Ive almost given up on the car....
I got the turbo off to fix the leak which is from smaller bolts in the oil return. so as i had the Turbo off I noticed the middle lower Manifold bolt was loose as I tried tightening it up the fuker came out!
Now my $0 repair attempt is gonna cost me a head replacement, replacement to the water inlet on the head (which I'm thinking the reason i didnt do this in the first place was because there is a bolt Im sure wont undo) replace and refit the cam. and all the other shit involved in putting a Leaded head onto an Unleaded setup. FUCK!
Now does anyone have an unleaded head??? i have two leaded heads if you want to do a trade????
Question to the wise ones??? do i need to drop the oil out before i change the head or is it safe to do with out draining the oil?????
If this is too much of a fuk around.... keep an eye on the For Sale - Parts
So that's my rant! I hope things come smoother then I hope.
Happy Days!!

The head won't need to come off! Get you local friendly mechanic to put a helicoil in it, it will be right as rain. Shouldn't cost you $30 and 10minutes!dexi_styles wrote:Ive almost given up on the car....

They will do it while the engine + head are in the bay.

Hi,
Yeah what Damo and Mr. Glossy said.
Sometimes the smallest things on these cars just fuck you up.
Don't worry, just get it fixed - or fix it yourself. Sounds like a helicoil will do it, they work really well I used them in my standard T2 manifold some years ago, worked till I thru it all in the bin.
You're not on your own either - after replacing my suspected broken engine and busting my arse to do so, I find out it was a fucked gearbox. And I had to bust some arse to replace that today because I. put. it. back. IN!. I wanted to KILL the ET with a hammer.
But I shall enjoy thrashing the living fuck out of it in around 1 week on the track, so that's fine.
That'll be you to, you just need a cool-off.
Darren.

Yeah guys its a great idea... But it's already been thought of the last time
The coil must of been too small of badly done as it's threaded out. This is why its time for a new head.
Sorry I didn't put this in the first post. Bit I'll get something sorted this week. I just didn't want a costly job this time round.
Cheers guys for ya input. Now its time for mine

Go the next size up, and use a M10 stud from a RB30. You may need to drill out the manifold to accept the M10 bolt though, but it is just a hole, no biggie.dexi_styles wrote:Yeah guys its a great idea... But it's already been thought of the last time

Ok since my issue with the head I decided to swap the head with another I have.
Drove it around for a few weeks and started to get the instruments fuse blow on me, first it was only once a time. Then I had it blow several times a night, then it was as soon as I replaces the blown fuse it blow when i turned the key.
So my decision for this was to remove the dash, tidy the wires because there is a few dodgy wiring jobs under there (Not all from me) and fix the issues I have with the Alarm. As I was fixing the arming light wiring I have decided to star wiring up the interior light suppression (temp till I get the right relay).
A few extra wiring issues I found, the installer stole the cigarette lighter power & earth to wire the water Temp gauge.... ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL! what a lazy cheap sod! but now I'm not sure whether I am going to keep the Temp gauge as I no longer need it.
So I looked at the few dashes I have, seeing which one is in better nick to install while the dash is out. Surprise surprise the better one has a Turbo Timer on it too..... YAY! for me!
And that's as much as i got to date.
So now its time to strip down the front and to tidy all wires linking to the instruments to stop the FUSE BLOWING....... GRRR its annoying!
Dash to go back in and trial an attempt to see if the fuse blows before the front comes off.
Cheers for reading my blubber,
Dexi
