Other then A Catch Can

Post by samual »

Hey guys.

Ok I have the oil over flow on the left side of rocker cover and it used to go to an oil catch can, but I not want one.

Image

So question is where can I run this too??

Is there some where to tap into?? Maybe factory setup??

Thanks

Steve

u need a connection (nipple from a pipe about 8mm) between the AFM n the turbo from the original factory set up to get air into the rocker cover n blow excess oil out the exhaust.

buddy the catch can might be there for a reason. if there is excessive blow by and you run that hose directly into the intake manifold, would be like running your car on diesel

UMM dex do you have a one way valve on the left (larger) pipe?????

If you dont you will be just blowing boost into the rocker cover!

that pipe is supposed to be on the turbo intake side so it is only ever vaccuum and the right pipe on the rocker cover has a one way valve between that and the intake.

if you dont want to use a catch can, hook it up the turbo intake, as in between the turbo and the AFM, NOT in front of the AFM.

This is where it is standard..

i would think catch cans are only illegal if you have them venting to atmosphere and not back into the intake.

because you dont want to keep the can you will be passing the oil back into the intake and through the afm which i would think will cause problems.

i recommend keeping the catch can and routing the 2 hoses from the rocker into the can with a 3rd running anywhere back to the intake pipes (pre turbo), and filling your catch can with steel wool so the oil wont actually get sucked out just the fumes.

Yes I am getting a new one made up as I have now made a air box (its black in the picture) so I can get it regoed.

Just have to think about where to run it as I am doing my best to keep engine bay as tidy as possible.

Thanks Guys for ALL the answers.

Anymore comments?

BAZ, would your idea be legal?
