OK, bit crazy, and probably wont happen.
But I am thinking of getting a small van for work ...
Now...
As some may know.. I am a bit of a fan of the Prairie...
and was thinking if I can get another one.
Rip out the seats, there is a lot of room there.
Just to use as a junk carrier.
That would be neat...
but back to my original problem,
they're a gutless peace of crap with that E15 55kw motor....
Then I thought, I have tones of spares...
enough to put a whole injected set up together.... Well almost.
Have manifolds and rails. injectors...
I Even can get a microtech D5.
So to convert it to a E15E might be possible... Ooh 70kw
So has anyone played around with this ???
And any suggestions.
This time I would not put a surg tank in, I think It would be easier to put a VN pump inside the original,
even thou that means modifying the tank. I believe that would be the way to go.
Again. I'm not looking for heaps of power, BUT
0-100 in 15 minutes is just a bit slow, dangerous....
and I got the ugly duck for fun stuff.
I wish....
In US and Europe they also came out with the ca18 and ca20 motors... That would of been enough

Not in Oz m8. IIRC we didnt get any efi atmo cars and if there were there must have only been a handful.
The e15 motor goes adequately turbo-less even on low compression so it would work just fine as a stooge around thingo running on plain old ulp.
However, IIRC the D5 is fuel only?? Dunno exactly as its so frikken old.
In which case you have to piggyback it onto the stock efi harness along with the AFM to have some decent form of ignition control making the job messy and unnecessarily complicated.
If your forced to mess with such old clobber then set it up stock or Id search out an old MT-8 which appear for Nissan 4 cylinders quite regularly quite cheaply.
Have fun tho.

when i bought the vert off joel, he had just finished the efi conversion, all the details should still be here

i never got to drive it carby, but it was very boggy down low with the efi, may have had to do with the mixture settings, never really played around with it once i got it running.
imo i rekon you would be better off with a cam, extractors and a decent carb. i dont rekon the fuck around with all the things ou have to change is worth it.
just my 2 cents

EFIed N/A E16
Sorry to bump oldies but new on here & thought I'd share my experience.
The last configuration of one of my exas before it came off the road about 6 years ago was:
E16
about 2Kg missing off the back of my flywheel
ET Gearbox & driveshafts with 15" 205/50 on the front
Microtech Digi1+/2 (2 being ignition control)
RRC Inlet manifold (has longer inlet runners than aussie one) with a 4" dia x 8"plunem grafted on top.
experimental tuned exhaust extractor designed to promote low speed torque.
1 3/4" exhaust to 1 1/2" rear muffler & tailpipe.
Took a bit of tuning but with 98 fuel, if you took off slowly, then once your moving (clutch fully out) punch the throttle hard, it would break traction.
Great for a bit of "oversteer/Frontwheel drift" in 2nd around roundabouts. Turn the wheel & steer with the throttle, oh it used to be fun.
Good static torque, as long as you don't like high revs.
Never dynoed but by educated guess (feel),I'd say peak torque hits about 2700-2800, peak power was around 3500, physically would not rev over 4000, but would accelerate from 900rpms in 5th gear like a common rail diesel.
This setup was gold for a runabout & in traffic. Used to tow pretty well too for a N/A & be cheap as to run + super reliability. No chance of blowing a head gasket between cylnders.
Still have complete setup less Microtech, the ign. module died.
If I had a good reg'd shell, it would probably be running in it.
And yes, I must be getting old.
