I understand the need for conformity. Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense.

CA18DET would be the easy and cheaper conversion and an SR20DET would be the better but more expensive and harder option. it comes down to how much are you planning on spending?

i think ill go the CA18DET just planting the seed to missus. about letting me do it :P

it all takes time so it gives me time to look at prices of the engines etc.

although i did see a cheap sr20 engine for sale yesterday about 5k's from me house so im also looking into what ill need to do to fit it in :P

i can vouch for the SR20DET's. a mate of mine has an SR20DET 180SX thats been running 18psi for the last 8 years or more on a stock engine with roughly 260,000Km's un-opened and it has been driven hard! a lot of hard driving/burnouts/hooligan activity by me aswell and it's still healthy, and pulls hard and reliably!

there has been a few examples done to N12s, the biggest thing seems to be that if you also try for a turbo then you have big issues for the radiator. There is a guy on the forum doing a sr20 conversion. I'd reckon they'd be a few more done on pulsar forums, dealing with the n13/n14 etc...

your asking the wrong Pulsar forum really dude. most of us haven't gone near that type of conversion on an N12 let alone an N13. some of us have read into these type of conversions on N12's but thats it really. all most of us could really tell you is that seeing as N13's did come from factory with a CA18 that it should be a pretty straight forward job and that an SR20 will require a bit more money and attention.
hopefully someone on here can be a bit more informative for you on this subject.
