I have a little bad news, your tweeter splits are smaller than mine, i would just have to get smaller ones hey

Here's the pics> sorry for the bad quality photo's, they were taken with my phone.

Nicely cut out vent
Image
Nice and tight fit :D i can't screw them on like your's, they dont have a edge like your's where the screws can go through.
Image
And bam, it don't wana go through the vent hole :x
Image
It sticks out on the sides, and i can't make the hole on the dash bigger :(
Image
You can't even see there's splits in there :D
Image
Oh well, i have to get some smaller ones i quess :x :x

Cheerz.

not necessarily man. mine don't actually fit through the hole either. i have to kind of push them in on a bit of an angle. by the looks of yours they look roughly the same size. you might just need to try a few different angles? hopefully they will go in.

Try removing the grill on the front as it's a little wider than the actual tweeter

Well, actually they demist the front side windows quite effectively, but I think they are more useful in a colder climate. European climate, for example. If it weren't for that, I would probably install a set of tweeters behind those vents! Looks awesome and probably sounds pretty good too!

Robert, I think the tweeters may fit if you put them through the hole in the dashboard before you attach the vent grill. You probably have to create a bracket of some sort so you can attach the tweeters to the dash (behind the vent grills) instead of gluing them directly to the vent grills.

I have, but i noticed that when you take the grill off and that little thing inside that they sound completely diffrent. Thats why i want to leave it on. :D

Jan, i dont think that would work, but ill give it a try.

It would have been much easier if i could just take the whole dashbord out, :o put the vents in and then the tweeters from the back.

Hi, i got them in, with the grills.

I mounted them on the vents with a glue gun, sorted the wiring out and i just squeezed them in there, they fit nice and tight, i damaged the spray on the vents tho , but that i can always re-spray  and i have to close the holes in the dashboard, any suggestions :?

Thanx for the reply's guys, and thanx Ash for the awsome idea, i would have never thought of that

Here are the pics>

Here they are mounted to the vents, and yes, the glue gun works, better than screws, you might not believe it, but damn that thing is tight, i had to put force in to take them off
Image
Image
I can always rely on my trusty glue gun
Image

All wired up :D
Image

Damn it looks super neat,
Image
Image

Oh, and i don't know if im imagining it, but they seem to sound heaps better than before :?

Thanx :P

They will definitely sound Different as you dont have the harsh reflections from the Windscreen to battle with. It should widen the Sound stage as well, still not an Ideal place but where is an Ideal place in a cars interior? Basically you can either have a low sound stage and lack of imaging and get keep the speakers in proper phase(tweeter should be mounted further away than the midbass as well), or mount the tweeter up high and lose a lot of the stereo imaging cant win haha but where you and ash have yours is very bloody neat

haha too much dribble here from me, Im serious about sound lol

Thanx, Its always good hearing the experts advise

For some strange reason those wheels on the et grabbed my attention, haha but anyway, now im curious to what sound components you had in that car, some bloody nice trophy's it won.

I would need your advise when i install my sound system in the future, you seem to know what you're talking about. Keep in touch

Yeh those rims were simple but looked pretty good only 15in I ended up with 17in rims in the end. Those tropihes were for 2 seasons(1st season sucked couldnt get it going the was I wanted) second season got state champion for Sound Quality :)

Well started off with pioneer/sony/rockford fosgate/Earthquake(when I did SPL for 3 months lol) but just couldnt get what i wanted out of it(trophies lol) Ended up with Alpine Head unit, Alpine Type R splits, High End Alpine Amps and Infinity 12in sub woofer and a heap of Dynamat. Sub was setup for SQ not SPL, though it did score 136db when I ran it through the SPL tent for a laugh.

A lot of trial and Error with it all haha I kept changing my mind and trying different setups I had I think it was 7 diff setups in the ET. All up between my brother and myself we did pretty well in Sound offs with our ET's :) he was third loudest in the state for a year running 10% the power the top 2 were running hahaha My sub box design was much better....just didnt have a boot space to use rofl. We even had one of the designers that designed the amp we used at the comp and he was shocked and couldnt understand how we did it :) mind you this was many years ago haha

talking about car stereo's the guy i baught my ET off was actually a car stereo installer. he had a shop in my town for about a year before going back to Melbourne. he had my ET as an SPL machine. he got first place at Springnats when he entered a few years ago. he had 2 Earthquake competition 10 inchers in a big ass Earthquake designed bandpass enclosure taking up the whole hatch area with a couple of Earthquake comp mono block amps. he had the same Earthquake 6.5 inch coax's in the doors that are still in there now and i cannot remember what head unit exactly but i'm pretty sure it was an Alpine of some description.
it was fucking loud considering he was only using 10 inch woofers!

this is the old dual 10 incher enclosure. i still have it in the shed.

Well, if you'd put any more stickers it would perhaps look a bit like you're bragging... I think those you have there are still OK. Not too few, not too many stickers. It's a good balance! Looking good IMO! :D

The sprayed panels look good! Nice work! :D

There were actually alot of stickers on the doors, but i took them off until it looked neat and not overdone. Thats why there is only 2 stickers per door. Its good to hear someone else say it looks good, Thanx  The other stickers were sound brands, that i dont have in the car, it would just be stupid to put them on :o

Yea, now its just the boot, carpetand rear seats left, then i've got a full black interior

Can't wait for my 17''s to get on
