Oh yeah, when I think about it, it is plastic. Pardon me. They don't look like they are wanting to fly off the top of the car at high speed yet....

Back on topic, I'm gonna pull my stalk apart today... maybe that's the reason I have no left headlight, and the constant highbeam suddenly died despite the momentary highbeam still working...

Very fragile and poorly designed plastic clips.
Yup, they usually break when you try to remove the strips.

Sorry for not replying, didn't realize my old thread was dug up!

I had the same one headlight problem just after the restoration of my car was finished. In my case, it was the stalk.

The stalk is constructed in such a way that if you turn the headlights on really slowly, you can see that they turn on one at a time! Knowing that from earlier experience, I kept working the lights on and off for quite some time (and used some lubricating oil), and finally both headlights started working again.

My guess is that one of the contact surfaces was too corroded or then one of those 'pins' was sticking, as in the case of my sister's N12. As I didn't take my stalk apart, I'm not sure of the exact cause.

Yeah, I pulled mine apart and cleaned the contacts... I even tweaked them so the lights would come on at the same time.

Tested with a multimeter, the problem's somewhere else.

It was the connector on the back of the bulb, not touching the common pin.

As well as the stalk, I think... I seem to remember testing for volts at the connector and getting dick, otherwise it would've been simple.

Well, it had to be something that simple. The last thing you can think of! Well, I'm glad you got that fixed!

I'm pretty sure it was the first thing I tried; I think I may have damaged the connector by jamming my multimeter probes in it.
