GTi Boxes are ment to make a bit of a thrashing... OR get a big vice and clamp the springs. undo the bolts holding the springs together. Release the vice so the springs release. Grab the top two springs and invert them, so they look like this (()). Now Clamp the springs together do the bolts back up and Hey Presto!!!! you have lowered Leaf Springs, not too low but low, No defectable blokes in it.
