Hi from Switzerland
Hi,
my name is Thomas and I life in Switzerland.
I used to work as a nissan mechanic (1997 to 2002).
My first car was a 1985 Cherry/Pulsar Turbo (1997-1999)
then I did change to a 1993 Sunny GTI (Pulsar N14) SR20DE.
After various cars I had the wish to go back to the roots…
So I decidet to search for a Cherry Turbo
This is the first picture I took from the car when I bought it.
It was in a garage for about 4 years, so it is very dusty.
Little facts about the Nissan Cherry Turbo in switzerland:
It was importet only 1984- 1986
It was non Cat Converter / leadet.
It was rated with 77kW / 105hp (crazy isn’t it?)
It was only as 3-Door sold.
It had vented disc/ drum brakes.
It was sold in this colors:
Red/ Black
Yellow/Black
Anthracite/Black
Solid Black
In 1986 was a Special Model:
White/Black, wit electric Sunroof, Momo Wheels (6x14” +27 offset)
and white checkered interior
I will post more pictures in the next days...[/img]

Hello there, and welcome!
Great little car, isn't it? A happy little pocket-rocket with surprising performance!
Interesting specs... especially the power rating. I've always heard and read that the European-spec Cherry Turbo produces 115 horsepowers. But IIRC, it was the differing power output standards that caused these slight variations, right?

Hello and welcome to the forum (Grüzi Nachbar )
I didn't know that the swiss Cherry Turbos were rated at 77kw.
It still interests me what causes those power output differences.
Because im pretty sure switzerland has (and had) the same power specifications than other european countries (DIN), there might be a difference between the maps in the ecu ....?
According to FAST, switzerland had different ECU -partnumbers, to wit 23710-29M10 or 23710-29M11.
Can you confirm this, Thomas?
Nice cherry btw.
greets

Hi @ all,
I will take more pictures after cleaning the car....
I have also to repair some "crimes" the previous owner did to the car.
I can't await drive the car and hear the whistle from the turbo
@ Martin
I will check the ECU Number next time I'm working on the car.
Yes the 77kw are also DIN.
It could be that switzerland had start to have some Pollution Control Laws from 1976 on. Something like the California standard in the US.
Cherry Brochure
This is a pdf from the Swiss Brochure for the Cherry Turbo,
the last Page is from the Nissan Workshop Manual. ( 52MB ! )
I will try to put all info's I have on the net.

so your cherry is rated at 95ROZ(RON)? my cherry turbo is rated at 97 octane.Cherry Turbo wrote:hi martin,
in switzerland is regular gas 95 octane an "super" 98 octane and in the past leadet gas .... but it look like the torque is lower.... so it could be less timing at higher rpm?
i just looked at its specs: 84kw @5600rpm and 162Nm(16.5kgm)@3200rpm
well it could be that the fueling and ignition maps are responsible for these 9HP difference...
unfortunately not. it is stored in a simple prom which has to be desoldered and readout.Cherry Turbo wrote: Is there a way to download the map from the ecu?
