Hey,

I am not sure if I explained myself right. On the side where the exhaust manifold bolts on there is a little hole between cyl 2 and 3 always wanted to know what it is for.

Yup, there is a corresponding hole on the opposite side of the head between cylinders 2 and 3.

I'm not sure about this, but could these two holes be for some lubrication/coolant circuit that never was used on the E series engines?

10X mate i will.
so today i replace the gearbox from engine.
Image
Image
i open the gearbox to fix it
Image
because i have a problem with 5 gaer it doesn't engage correct.so here is the problem -the muff of 5gear.
Image

there was wearing on one side
Image

but it's cool because the muff is the same from both side and I just turn it up side down and think that will be ok
Image

and the gearbox ready to be closed.
Image
I'll continue the work about the car but just a little things because after a week i'll go to turkey for a little vacation.

cheers

yes but this is not the ring that sinchronize the gear.the bronze ring sinchronize the gear for good shift.this is the ring that engage(mesh) the gear.

holy sh!t, this is a lot of crankshaft end play
are there any scores or so on the crankshaft, is it still within specs?

were there any noticable symptoms of this bearing failure while driving?
