Yup, there is a corresponding hole on the opposite side of the head between cylinders 2 and 3.
I'm not sure about this, but could these two holes be for some lubrication/coolant circuit that never was used on the E series engines?

in all honesty dude these cars are shit but they have so much character, are fun and go fairly well when running right. we still play around with these things because they are a fun addictive little shitbox! - Ash

so today i replace the gearbox from engine.
i open the gearbox to fix it
because i have a problem with 5 gaer it doesn't engage correct.so here is the problem -the muff of 5gear.
there was wearing on one side
but it's cool because the muff is the same from both side and I just turn it up side down and think that will be ok
and the gearbox ready to be closed.
I'll continue the work about the car but just a little things because after a week i'll go to turkey for a little vacation.

and today was the day of truth.replace the crankcase
and yes there was a some problem.the thurst play(probably is not correct to say it like this but you will understand i hope)was too big .the bearings of crankshaft and rods was not too bad but i decided to change it and the pistons rings to.but this will happend after 2 weeks may be.there some pics to understand my meaningless words
