Thanks m8!
My clutch is slipping a bit, soon time to get a new one. Especially fourth gear shifts are slippery... or then it's just me. And I use the clutch intensively for motor braking, which may not be a very good idea...

Thanks m8. Judging by the skid marks on the road, other people think so too.

Started installing a new roof lining yesterday, finished it off today. My old roof lining was dark blue-gray, the new one is light gray. Also replaced the roof handles (they are the same color as the roof lining).
The new roof lining:

Surprisingly enough, there was no rust under the roof lining, and the sound deadening was completely intact!

Thanks m8. The interior is much brighter now that the dark roof lining isn't eating up all the light.Ash wrote:nice work again dude.
Lolz. Just another detail fixed.Ash wrote:you have completely changed that car.

Thanks m8! I'm thinking about replacing that lamp with a square-shaped T12 Bluebird one. It has a fade-out function and looks better. And the glass doesn't fall off either.

Watch out if you're driving on a cobblestone road... my first glass fell off and hit the center console. Cracked up pretty badly.

Do the Bluebird dome lights just bolt in, perhaps...? I tried to scrounge another dome light from the wreckers, but most of em seem way too chunky to fit in the little recess.
Also, I bet replacing the headlining is way easier with a hatch... with the sedans and coupes, you have to get the bloody back window out!

I believe the T12 light may bolt on, since I have seen one that looks the same as the T12 light on a N12 with a roof window at this forum. Unfortunately, I don't remember who the owner is and I can't find the photo.
Update time. I got my Y-piece for the oil pressure gauge today. So I went on and installed the Y-piece, now I don't have leaks and have both the oil pressure warning light as well as the oil pressure meter working. Found out today that the oil pressure goes up to around 8 bar when revving past 5700 rpm. At 5700 and below, the oil pressure is a bit below 5 bar. 4.5-ish.

I think I know what causes the low oil pressure readings at idle... the oil pressure sensor seems to be leaking quite a bit... it's shithouse quality, should've guessed that it will break quickly. I'll have to replace it.

I passed MOT last week, yay! Even though my gearbox is having problems, the MOT guy didn't even say a word about the noise coming from it!
I had quite high HC values (550, absolute maximum value for passing the test is 1000) at the emissions test, but it turned out to be caused by two fouled spark plugs (cylinders 2 and 3), as a result of faulty ignition leads. The HC value should be at about 250-300 when the engine is running properly, according to the MOT engineer. Idle CO values were perfect: 1.5%.
He did note the leaking aftermarket oil pressure sensor, but didn't write it down anywhere on the report
And... the T12 interior light is a go... I'm currently working on an 8-bit PIC controlled relay circuit for it, since the T12 on/off circuit is relay controlled (relays connected to the loom somewhere) by two surface-mount push buttons (which are connected in parallel), whereas the N12 unit is mechanically controlled with a three-position lever. And the mounting holes for the T12 interior light are symmetrically placed, but not on the N12, so I will have to modify the T12 light slightly on that point. I'll post pics as I progress with this small project.
