Given all the drive is transferred through roller bearings like a uni joint, those pins only have to overcome the friction of the bearings (...and the sinusoidal angular velocity-induced inertia of the coupling center I guess), which wouldn't amount to a lot. The simple fact that they're more efficient suggests there's less reason for them to fail too; they're absorbing less energy.15exa wrote:nice concept. wondering how strong the alignment mechanism pins would be under high stress situations................ could imagine that system wouldnt be cheap eitherKimmo wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constant-v ... n_Coupling ?
I posted a thread about Thompson couplings a while back, actually.
But yeah, they wouldn't be cheap... mainly cause you'd have to get em custom made.
i tried bringing the clucth and loading it up out on the line as much as i could without it taking off or stalling.sleeper_et wrote:When you were doing your starts what were you doing? Revs up and dump the clutch with no load on it?
Try pre-loading the clutch a little, that way when you do jump off it there is not as much shock going through the driveshafts/CV's.
Most of our failures where due to wheel tramp.
my brother was filming the second run, i havent seen the footage yet but he seems to think the damage was done in the burnout, coz it just pulled to the side real hard off the line.

well over due for an update.
interior is now bare as can be, hoodlining, carpet, sound deadening all gooone.
though i better start doing some maintanence work on her before n12 national cruise, so i'm taking the locked diff out, (17's were bald as from said locker, so i will be running 15" steelies for the time being).
changing radiators as mine was full of holes due to poorly mounting new thermos.
any way, got to work pulling it all apart, and have revieled i have 2 twisted inner cv joints, FUCKER..............
not going to be doing any racing/track work for a lil while now any way, so i will put a open center back in, new cv's, and maybe even turn the boost right down............ save some cash and do some propper drive line stuffskies........
