Yeah, mine was like that with the standard exhaust... it was totally fucken NUTS.

Impossible to maintain traction in second to 80km/h at any throttle opening...

Sorry Glenn, I don't have a boost pic off hand, but I'll take one in my future plans.

Damo i noticed you're not using O-rings. What have you done to keep the head clamped? Just two stock gaskets and stock head bolts?

i have no real clue. but those two dents close to the bore dont look good. and is that oil or spilled coolant on top of the piston?
I understand the need for conformity. Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense.

Nothing tricky, 2 stock gaskets with the OE headbolts torqued down an extra smidge over the factory 51-54 to 60ft/lb. That its.

It's a pic of bore #3, I had cylinder liners inserted into #3 and #4 which you can see if you look closely at the top of the deck.

If you have a good look at the two triange shaped coolant passages on the right of the bore, you can see a crack from each across to the cylinder liner. This basicly ment that that entire peice of block between coolant holes and cylinder lines is 'floating' around doing its own thing!
Also, you can see a section of the nice cast edge of the piston is melted away.

Turns out that the turbo I though was a L20 T3, isn't. I actualy saw an L20 a couple of years back and they (the one I saw anway) are like the Z18 and FJ20 style and have the wastegate flap in the part that bolts to the turbine housing, rather than the common 'cast into the housing' approach. Either way, it is quite small, something in the order of .48. I would have to measure it to be certain though. No stampings if memory serves.

I can get the rest of the stamped numbers off it if you like? (If I remember. )

Sorry mate.

Manifold is now on the car.

This puppy is part of the 200kw quest.

Finally finished off the exy manifold and got a chance to mount it. I hope it gives me results in balance for the effort I sunk into it!

You can see it on the link. Blowing a little rich smoke (and burning off some oil) for being rather rich to get it to idle with the bigish cam.
I am expecting the exhaust note (muffler on) to be slightly different from the stock manifold due to the individual runner length being more even across all 4.
With the engine running, by slowing the comp wheel with the tip of my finger on the retaining nut, I can actually feel the individual exhaust pulses spinning the turbo! Not sure if the standard exhaust manifold does this though.
The proof will be in the pudding though. I hope it will bring on full boost a few hundred rpm earlier.
Still need to make up a new dump, as the turbo sits on a very different angle, more or less rotated toward the engine by 90deg. I am toying with the idea of running a separated wastegate pipe, and blending it back in down at the sump.
2.5 inch straight out of the exducer, flared to 3inch for the 90deg bend down, and a 1.5 wastegate pipe. Thoughts? No, I'm not doing a screamer! :D

The engine and turbo seem to respond quickly to the throttle, interesting set up! :D

Sounds wicked!
