I've never been fond of that "tyre barely fitting the rim" look. Always thought it was form over function. Proper racer don't do it because it distorts the treat face and reduces grip.

mm don't agree with that, they are both within reasonable fits, not the rediculous ones of those images.

Finally got he car back in the garage the other week and the install of the Evo brakes, ET Disc rear and adjustable swing arms is on in earnest. Also improved the seat mounts, more support for the floorpan and added a new fire bottle mount, changed the engine mounts (they were looking a bit rough).

Also been playing with master cylinder sizes of late. I'm always reading about the need for bigger master cylinders with bigger brakes, which sounds logical....

The reality is that a bigger master cylinder diameter would be required when you increase the size of the piston diameter, or more accurately the combined area of all brake pistons, versus the mater cylinder piston area.

So here's a summary:

_____________Diameter (mm)____Number____Area (mm2)
N12 (Stock)______48.1____________1________1817.1
Exa (Prairie)_____48.1____________1________1817.1
ET_____________48.1____________1 ________1817.1
TN Magna________53_____________1________2206.2
Evo_____________32_____________2________1608.5

Note that the Evo actually has a smaller total piston area, so pedal feel should improve, despite it being a "big brakes" conversion. But the TN Magna upgrade would make the pedal travel longer and should be aided by a bigger master cylinder.

That said, I was never happy with the feel of the exa brakes, so I'm looking at an upgrade. The Evo and Verada's typically have 15/16 or 1 inch master cylinders with these front calipers. So I'm tracking down a direct swap for the exa to see how that goes. Lets hope the pedal lever ratio isn't where these things are corrected!

All this is to be completed for the John Mott Super Sprint (late june)

Believe it or not, standard ones will screw right up....BUT, they are a banjo and the evo uses a straight screw in thread end. So the banjos might come loose 'causes theres no mount to stop rotation. So tomorrow got a guy coming by to make new lines. standard ones will be about $100 a pair and braided about $200 a pair.
and he comes to me to do it, not bad. When he's done I make sure he writes down what needed so you boys can order direct via the phone.

Alrighty, got the evo fronts in with ADR approved braided line (written up here: http://forum.n12turbo.com/viewtopic.php?t=5522):

Put in the 1 inch Master cylinder (written up here:http://forum.n12turbo.com/viewtopic.php?t=7244):
($150 delivered from ebay)

And added in the adjustable rear swing arms (written up here: http://forum.n12turbo.com/viewtopic.php?t=4627):

and in the process of installing new ET rear discs, should be done this weekend after I get the longer studs pressed in this week.

As a side note, I had custom lines made up in ADR approved braid. It was done by Nigel (0488793303) from a mobile brake line company (http://www.mobileautohoses.com.au/). Highly recommend his work and he kept all the details so if you ring him and tell your putting EVO brakes on a N12 Exa/Pulsar he'll be able to mail you the right lines.

Yep, looking for 1mm toe out and half degree camber as a starter. John Mott is on 17/18 July....so might be during or after your holiday.
