An article suggestion: cross-engine parts list!

Post by TurboZ.Dude »

Hey guys,

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to find parts for the E15ET engine under the E15ET engine code. Could it be possible to collaborate in making a long list of all the most important parts that can be found under different Nissan engine models that are exactly the same as the ones found on E15ET?

An example:
Clutch: E15ET has the same clutch as the GA16DE and E16.
Flywheel: I assume E16 has the same flywheel as the E15ET?
Piston rods: E15ET rods can be found on E16 engines.
Starter motor: ... don't remember.

I guess this isn't a problem for the more experienced guys because you remember which parts will fit from which engine by heart, but for me still being a n00b at building & converting engines, I would appreciate some assistance in solving the puzzle. And I believe an article like this would turn out to be useful for other E15ET enthusiasts as well.

Thoughts?

Yeah, good idea. Should make it a sticky or something. Probably do pics as well to have a visual verification. Probably the hardest thing to iron out would be the differing parts outside Australia which made their way onto the engine. EG: the E15ET turbo box takes the 'E' series auto starter motor in Australia, but how does that compare to the rest of the world?

Pics are definitely a good idea for visual verification, I agree. 8)

I think we should have enough forum members from outside Australia to be able to sort out those issues. I think Martin (boosted) knows quite a bit of the European E15ET configuration, for example.

grunertee probably knows something too, now that he's done two E15ET conversions... :D

[EDIT]I was able to at least partially confirm that the auto starter is the same as the turbo one over here as well. A spare parts company had an online list of all the parts they have for the N12. One line read somewhat like this: "Starter Nissan E series engines (NOT Turbo/Automatic)". Unfortunately they don't have the automatic/turbo starter motor.

The idea is good, but at the end of the day, the bits and bobs and info that swap over can be found in seconds with a simple forum search.

Feel freee to do up and artical and collate the info but there is not that much stuff of intererst really.
Pix are a must or fail.

That's true E, but IMO forum searching takes time because it yields a lot of unwanted results due to the massive amount of posts and threads at this here forum. Or perhaps I'm just incompetent...

For instance:

TOp and bottom raidiator hoses for Aus delivered ET pulsars and exas are getting near impossible to get. I couldn't actually get a top hose - only a bottom.

So i've done that and have the info - so rather than someone else cocking around I can just insert that info into a live document and kablamo problem solved..

with pics obviously.

Or is that more of an article type thing?

Darren.
Race it.

i like this idea....

Starter motors are the same turbo and N/A
and the auto ones fit

Navara, Pintara (CA20 RWD) VL commodore, and R31 Skyline Alternators are a straight fit - - - most cars with a V belt and external fan will

exhaust manifold gasket
intake manifold gasket
headgasket BK440MT
oil pan gasket
rocker cover gasket
front main/rear main/camshaft seals
heater hoses
engine mounts

all the same with n/a and turbo
T3T4 hybrid, FMIC and MT8 =

Starters are not the same between NA and turbo!

Exhaust manifold gasket is not the same between NA and turbo

Head gaskets are the same shape but use different material OEM

Engine mounts are interchangeable, but not the same throughout.

Not too sure where you got some of that info from.

Because it's going to be a changing list, it's never going to be a static article.
More like a sticky (maybe in the article submission section) where people post references and then the author (or an admin) adds the users post to the list in the first post. This is the way many software development forums run topics, with the first post always listing the most recent update and a full change list with discuss below.
