ET tailgate badges

Post by TurboZ.Dude »

I'm planning to have a set of ET tailgate badges made locally, and I haven't found any proper drawings so I created my own ET tailgate badges:

They are based on these two pics:

I have a couple of questions about the badges I drew:
1. Have I drawn them correctly? If not, what's wrong?
2. What size should these badges be?

(I'm not putting the "Turbo" badge on before I have installed the E15ET engine into my N12 Pulsar, of course. )

Cheers,
Jan

Can't someone take some pictures with a ruler next to their badges to help out?

Looks like you've done a good job drawing them.

Just a few small things,

You do want the exact original one :?

You've made all the inner parts of the PULSAR and TURBO pointy, compare yours with the original pic you posted, you'll see, The inner lines should be round not pointy, And the ET, the middel line of the E should be a bit shorter.

I don't know if you wanted to make them pointy, but the original is more round

As for the size, your pics are very close, if not exacly the same size as the original, would be great if someone can take a pic with a ruler.

Like i said, small things, you can fix them in a blink

Cheerz.

i think the last one you have there is the one i made years ago. i scanned an original sticker before i stuck it on my car and made a layer over the top of the scan. i may have the original .psd scan, i'll check tonight for you.

Thanks Benny! That would be great! Does that psd contain both the "Nissan Pulsar" and the "Turbo ET" parts?

And thanks for your inputs Callum and Robert (did I remember your name correctly?)!

Robert, I had to make some guesswork due to the small resolution of the signature picture I used as model, and as I looked at the 'U' and the 'E' I thought that the outer edges of the letters may have been used to define the shape of the inner edges so I drew it that way.

Darn! I hope you still can find it!

But if not, I'll use your "Turbo ET" scan as base for the "Nissan Pulsar" badge and modify the letters accordingly. It's a lot of work but I want to create 100% proper badges.

Do you happen to have the size of the badges written down somewhere?

The one from my sig, I have in EPS format here somewhere. On a different HDD. I've been meaning to plug it in and get stuff off it, you've just given me motivation to actually do it. I used Rhino 3D to "trace" around some pics of different ET's I grabbed from the forums, then just photoshopped in the colours. As soon as I plug the HDD (2 days tops), I'll post them up here for anyone that wants them. Check them out, they should be fairly close.

EPS format should be compatible with most Vinyl cutters/plotters. If the particular person you're going through can't cut EPS, just let me know what format you want. I can do most formats.

Can't help on the size sorry, but if anyone does go measure it, can they also measure the width of the orange stripe that goes around the entire car? I want to re-decal mine once I paint her.

*EDIT* Just checked and it appears as though I have them in .ai format (Adobe Illustrator), I'll reinstall Creative Suite and export them to EPS for you.
I also drew up the front one off the grille, as mine is missing (Due to the entire grille being cut away to fit a cooler) It's the same as the rear "Pulsar Turbo" But different colours.

Here's a bigger pic so you can get a better idea of how I drew them up.

Thanks Andjeti! That's great!

I'm going to put a standard Pulsar badge at the front for now... so I don't have a big need for that front badge vinyl. But it may come in handy later, please do export that one for me as well! :D

By the way, now that you mentioned Rhino 3D... it's a good 3D graphics suite! Some years ago, I used to do some 3D sketching in Rhino 2.0.

Originals? You mean, you have got a real set that's bought from a Nissan dealership in the 80s? Well, if you can measure their sizes, then that's a start... vinyls wear so easily, I still want to have the graphics stored on my computer so I can make a new set at any time.

NO not the 80's(they were made in the 80/90's Im sure)ive got the REAL genuine ones bought from a dealer in 2002, I bought every decal they had for the ET. A lot of mainland dealers arent very helpful when it comes to N12 and mine was very accommodating as he loved my car he was keen to get anything I was after for it. I have 5 ET TURBO decals left in perfect condition and still in their original boxes.
