i just found a sealed battery box in the junk from all the cars we have that was easyThe Renegade wrote:No probs.dj_djox wrote:thanks for the advice im quiet anti smoking so no chance of it getin blown up by a cigi, but looks like the smartest thing is to design a box with a vent to the outside:) thanks
Yeah, I used some flexible conduit that I had left over from running the wiring to my pool. But a gland on the box and attach the conduit, then used a holesaw on the boot floor and poked the conduit thru the hole. It's all hidden on the side of the box that you can't see! (Over on the left)

Battery to boot LEGAL or ILEGAL
Re: Battery to boot LEGAL or ILEGAL
In QLD as long as the battery is secure and wont move, then it is legal, there are no such law about venting.Panda_ET wrote:all depends. depends a lot on venting of certain types of batteries. if you use a normal type acid battery you need to vent it outside of the car if its an ET (not sure with EXA). I went with a sealed Optima. The box needs to be SECURELY mounted otherwise u can wait for ur defect.

Purely up to you mate, but if you moved it you'll need to comply with N.S.W. regulations.
It'll free up a little room in your engine bay for AFM relocation/cooler pipes/cold air induction etc etc etc.
Get yourself an Odyssey battery and build it into your stereo installation, make it look trick.
Hey, side note: Next time I go to Leeton I usually pass thru Coota on the way to Wagga, I'll have to drop in and say g'day.

i have a boot mounted battery, its a pulse sealed type which is similar to the oddessy batteries.
due to it being a sealed dry cell type, it is legal to have it open and non venting, so i ordered a nice polished holder setup from the states.
i'll get some pics

The acid battery is unsealed and under the rear seat of my Beetle. Factory setup.
