n12 & n13 crown wheel

has any one got pics fo both side by side or tooth profile measurments?
i need a strong CW&P for me n13, and looking at this first before i fork out $1300 for a ppg billet one

As close a fuck is to swearing they are the same. N13 and N12 ET that is.
They just employ a different ratio.

However, the atmo N12 is significantly lighter. Dont even think about it!!!!

Im in the process as we speak of getting a quote on a straight cut CW & P using the stock output shafts and gearsets.
Ill need to make about 5 at a minimum and they will cost around a grand.

erm... i have an N13 and N12 crown wheel here and the N13 is quite a bit wider.

PAR should do one for you but will be about the 1200-1400 mark, if they cant use it out of some thing else,
as far as i know there not straight cut there just billet ones

The reason why im having them made. So you CAN get them.
Oh yes, they are made from billet AND you will have a choice of ratios. Probably 3.5 (stock) and 3.7 (Atmo GX) and possibly 4.1 (N13)

Then why don't the N13 crown wheels fit into the N12ET gearbox? Overall diameter or overall width?

Why are you getting these made up? Do you think its worthwhile for strength or just availability to have a choice?

It intrigues me because you would have to have a damn good reason to fork out $1200 just for a crown wheel. Especially when the weak point of the gearbox is clearly the casing/bearing/load stresses. So this can't be it.

And LSD's have already been implemented for 1/3rd of the cost you are looking at only for a crownwhell. So this can't be it.

I don't understand your reasoning here??

DOn't get me wrong, I'd be interested in purchasing one and aplaud your effort -- but what is your motive?

straight sut CW&P is not only a shot load stronger, you can make your own ratio, and with a helical CW&P it pushes the box apart, cause of the desight with the straight cut it wont do this, that is why in only striping half of the teath on me CW&P

Precisely.
It surprises me that the diff tooth angle is not cut 'the other way" to the gears in an effort to cancel end loads out.

It seems the CW & P regularly fail, I have a couple of failed diffs here, more so that the gears themselves so it makers perfect sense to me to make something tougher and also have the otion of different ratios.

"WOFTAM"??? I dont think so. Not for the serious it isnt.

Guys either want a tough diff which will last or they can continue breaking them.

last time i looked i had an n13 crown wheel in my box :P

ignoring that the calipers are stuffed and reading wrong, if you look at the first picture, i then took them off and put it on the n12 crown wheel, and its quite a bit smaller!

Confirm for me you are actually measuring an ET N12 diff, not an atmo N12 diff.
The ones I have here are all the same at 30 odd MM wide.
The NA diff I have is 25mm wide.

I'm with E on this one. The reason the N/A boxes are shorter is the thickness of the gears. I would almost put money on the thickness between the turbo + n13's are the same 30mm.
