hey guys i'm having some problems with my car, it's blowing heaps of smoke when i start it. i have had the valve stem seals replaced and redone the head gasget. any thoughts on what it could be?

fecked turbo maybe? does it do it as soon as its started? or after its started to warm up?

are you using 10w 40 engine oil?

if not, give it a go.

i had my engine completely rebuilt.

used 5w 30 engine oil and my engine didnt like it one bit.

moment i poured in 10w 40, smoke was gone completely.

thicker oil, or a stop smoke addictive thickens ur oil.. if not shagged turbo, or depends wat colour smoke? blue is turbo... white is piston rings coz i know I have had both of them.

thanks for the replys. i'm running penrite sae 20w-60 would this be causing the problem? the annoying thing is the motor was running no problems before i put it in this car.

Damn, 20w60 is too thick!

and your still blowing smoke? then something is seriouly wrong.

oil once it is burnt give off blue coloured smoke, is this what you see?

3 things i can think of here:

1)piston rings are worn
2)turbo seals are worn
3)you over filled the engine oil - check your level

just to bring up this thread back, my car blows smoke on cold start then everything is all sweet after 5 min when the engine is warm. it could be valve stem seals. i have to find out
