Installing a Microtech ECU

Post by Andy J »

Hi All

I have a microtech MT 8 but what else did I need to install it and can I do it myself, I have seen the basic fuel and air mixtures thread to get a good base but is this easy to connect to the exisiting loom or do most people run a new one and where do you mount them.
As far as my electrical knowlodge goes I know how to read electrical diagrams and can do basic connections.

Regards
Andrew

Firstly, you got the ECU from another ET right, or at least a 4 cylinder Nissan with an optical CAS?

Download the wiring diagrammes off the Microtech website.
FOLLOW THEM.
Its all you need to know.

As far as whether you splice into, or replace the loom? Thats just a personal preference.
There is a lot of unused wiring when converting from a MAF to a MAP sensed ECU. So my preference is to replace the loom. Thats just me tho.
Plenty of dudes patch into the stock loom for the stealth effect. Also, no need to run extra power wires and stuff.

Mount the ECU to wherever it will fit. Cmon....... use ur imagination M8.

Lastly, dont forget to change the stock fuel pump relay from +ive side to -ive side switching or you will fry the fuel pump timer circuit in the ECU.

Its all in the Micrtotech wiring diagramme.
