Bummer. Shaken but not stirred!

Post by tassuperkart »

Wifey off to work this morning and she had a P-plater pull out thru a give way sign on the highway near here and drove into the side of the ET.

Fortunately, wifey didnt panic and swerved while braking which prevented what might have been a really serious face-plant into the side of the other girls car into a fairly soft but still highway speed sideswipe.
I feel sorry for the young girl as this intersection is notorious with weekly serious accidents and fatalities where a rural road crosses a 4 lane divided highway at an angle making it difficult to adequately see back up the hill once half way across!
Wife was in the R/H lane overtaking a bus in the left side lane at the time and the young girl was stationary at the Give Way sign before pulling out in front and so was sandwiched in and unable to swerve any further without involving the bus as well.
Nobody hurt but some pride dented!

The ET is only superficially damaged and ever so lightly grazed from stem to stern, almost all of it will just buff out, but the front guard and indicator/clearance light are well punched in and are not repaireable.
No suspension or structural damage thankfully.

Since it will be the subject of an insurance claim, we are pulling out all stops to ensure that the car is not written off, which is a distinct possibility given that in addition to the guard and the clearance light, would require a full side respray and this will well exceed the book value of these old cars.
The panelbeaters have been really sympathetic with this but when insurance companies are concerned, they have to play by the rules...more or less and are being very helpful!

Until now this pristine and completely un-molested little car with as-new and untouched interior has been a joy to own.

Wifey not happy at all!

Well all turned out good in the end.
Father of the girl who hit the wifey covered the cost of repairing the car.
Its all been done and its a nice job too.
Wifey happy and car looks even beter than it did before the crash.

Everybody is happy so tassuperkart might even get a root.
