The testicle does that now with a set of stockers at 45psi, but without smoke and black lines.
I want the Skrine to emulate that with the black lines included. :D

Allrightythen, as some be aware, I sold the Skyline last year for the move to the warmth. In the time I have been up at the Gold Coast I have been looking for a suitable replacement without much joy, as my standards are probably a little too high. That hasn't stopped me from thinking and tinkering on stuff that is at hand. I bought a set of NA RB30 rods (which are probably the same as the turbos anyway) and set out to lighten and balance them as best I could. The one thing that makes this easier on the RB's than the E15's is that the RB's use a fully floating pin which makes removing the slugs a doodle.
The rods with bolts and nuts started out at 675g ish, and ended up 617g, loss of 58grams. Which works out around 10% of the wight of the rod less bolts and nuts, without loosing any strength at the rods weakest points.

Actual details of the rods are:

Stock rods

Total Cap Rod-nuts Big end no caps Little end

#1 675 142 513.5 290.5 219.5
#2 674 143.5 511.5 288.5 218
#3 674.5 142.5 513 290.5 218.5
#4 673 143 511 290 217
#5 675 143.5 512.5 289.5 218.5
#6 673 142 512 288 220.5

So the stock rods all weigh within 2 grams total, 2 grams big end and 3.5 grams little end, which I think is pretty bloody good for a cooking model Nissan donk from the 80's!

Cleaning off just the forging flash from the shaft and little end removed 13grams.

After lightening the stock rods:

Cap Rods-nuts Little ends
#1 130 478.5 197.5
#2 129.5 478.5 198.5
#3 129.25 480 200
#4 128.75 482.5 200
#5 128.75 482.5 199.5
#6 128 482 200.5

So I matched all the little ends to 197grams.

Took a little more from the big ends:

Rods no caps or nuts
#1 474
#2 471.75
#3 474
#4 475.25
#5 472.75
#6 471.5

Now with all the little ends the same, I could match the big ends by matching rod weights only. So I took them all back to 471grams. Which gave complete rod with cap and nuts in at 617grams. Roughly 23grams from the little ends and 35grams off the big end.
Now I need to source a set of light weight piston pins.

Probably not a task you would pay yo get done as it's fairly labour intensive, it took me probably 2-3hrs per rod, but I had the time.
