Did some more work on the turbo GX today!!

My "custom" ecu wiring installation (run along the passengers floor) which has been there for some years, was actually loomed up and run along the original ecu loom run next to the door sill and hidden away under the carpet.
I also "mounted" the ecu. The mounting consisted of simply cutting some slits in the carpet and passing some long cable ties under the carpet and around the ecu case. Cheap and nasty but keeps it in place......yay!

Next, I installed the Pioneer CD head and the Kicker 7 x 10's.
Wifey likes space in the boot which stopped me from fabbing up a nifty speaker box to include a sub.........bah.
So the 7 x 10's went into the front doors. Not the best placement for bottom end but acceptable enough.

There is a fair size hole in the front doors low down to the front so i cut out 2 plates of 1mm mild sheet and rivetted these over the existing cutouts with a generous dob of silastic as a gasket to stop rattles.
gives a reasonably solid plate to mount the speakers in to enhance bass end as much as possible.

The head unit was a snap to fit into the stock radio location and just wire it up.

Even with the pissy little internal Pioneer amps those 2 speakers crack really well! I cant wait to add a decent amp to really wind them up!

I stand to inherit the Poohsar in the forseeable future as wifey is now teaching and its a matter of time until a full time position and then Ill add a decent sub and amp/X-over as well....why not eh?!!!!!!!

Fitted up new brakes today.
The rotors at each end were pretty worn, the rears in particular were worn to within a couple of thou of their very lives and they were also warped.
Time for new ones along with pads.
I dont see the need for larger rotors or calipers on such a light car but slotted rotor never go astray at any time.

I fitted up a set of drilled and slotted front rotors and plain slotted rears which came along brand new at the right price along with new Bendix pads all around.

Pretty simple install taking about 1.5 hours all in. Last time i fitted front rotors, I rubbed back the seating areas of the front hubs and so-on so they simply fall apart when the main securing nut is removed.
Saves a lot of bashing and swearing to get the front hubs off/apart. Can be a right bastard of a job.

I actually have a pair of front hubs that WILL NOT seperate! Ive bashed the living tripe out of them with no luck..........

No hassles with this install. Straightforward job. New disks and pads make it a challenge to get the pistons back and the pads far enough apart to actually install them over the disks tho.

Brakes sure look the business now but will be a while before they bed in sufficiently to give them a decent workout!

Next up is matching up of the EGI inlet plenum and inlet runners to the new ported head I have along with new cooler and piping.
Fit the N12/N13 hybrid gearbox with 4.11 diff and new F1-Racing clutch as well.

Hehehehehn ATM, the brakes are all wrapped up by the stock 13" steelies! Cant see dick! Might as well have old drum brakes on from what can be seen from the outside!

Ive painted up a set of decent wheels and once they are on all will be revealed!!!!!!!!

I fitted up the newly painted wheels to the car. The dark wheels suit the grubby "rat" look I like so much.
The tyres are a 185 x 60 x 14" Bridgestone Supercat. Sit on the 6" rims really nicely for the sleeper look.
They have plenty of height to keep the ride quality up there for wifey but low enough (60) to allow some spirited driving!!!

Ive been preparing the new ported head and modded cam i have.

The head has been ported by a hand that knew what it was doing allright and the port volumes have been kept to a minimum for improved gas velocity. I cant improve on these!!!



The ports exactly match ACL gaskets I have so no matching is required.

I have been preparing a set of runners and port matched them against the gaskets Im using.



Ill use the stock inlet plenum in the short term until I decide to either fit the EGI inlet plenum or a custom inlet and matched runners im considering.
Im leaning toward the EGI plenum as it adds plenty of length to the inlet runners which should enhance lower down torque as opposed to up high which Im not really interested in.
