Flow bench

Post by Damo »

Well,CRAP!!!

I semi completed a comprehensive post yesterday regarding my DIY flow bench, but the draft didn't save, so this is the short version with the figures.

(Caveat, all these figures should be treated as a rough guide only not to be compared to other figures obtained through other sources, but should be within 5% of each other measured on this bench at this time).

All testing was done at 1.25in/hg(-0.05psi) which can be extrapolated to 20in/H2O(0.75psi) (standard for TB and head flow testing) by multiplying the CFM x 4.

4 x stock RB30xx 55mm Throttle bodies 235cfm (all within 2-3cfm of each other which places them within my error bars)

Stock E15ET 42mm T/B 142cfm (stock 42mm T/B no butterfly 162cfm shaft 'open", 132cfm shaft 'closed')

Stock E15ET airfilter and airbox 117cfm (no filter 143cfm, bottom half of box 217cfm, top half of box 175cfm)

Stock TB on stock top half of inlet manifold Runner#1 87cfm, Runner#2 95cfm, Runner#3 94cfm, Runner#4 90cfm

Slightly modded top half I/M (no TB) Runner#1 79cfm, Runner#2 87cfm, Runner#3 74cfm, Runner#4 83cfm

Reverse flow modded plenum all runners 150cfm

Stock exhaust manifold reverse flow Runner#1 65cfm, Runner#2 no data, Runner#3 78cfm, Runner#4 72cfm

Lower cut half of stock inlet runners Runner#1 84cfm, Runner#2 90cfm, Runner#3 93cfm, Runner#4 89cfm

Stock NA-RB30 AFM 237cfm

I have calibrated and re-tested my slightly ported E15ET head. Cylinder 4 has had a bit more working over than the others with the valve guides ground away, and the ports lightly worked on. The other 3 will be modded in the future to see what results I can achieve with differing methods. I will also re-flow some of the items listed above with the re-calibrated set up.

Also, as is written on the graph, readings were made at 7in/H2O, to covert to 28in/H2O double the CFM numbers.
