Rules to this thread only applying to pensioners. E I'm lookin at you, only you actually. I don't claim this would work nor would it be worth it I'm declaring this a post bashing free zone between myself and you.

I watching a you tube clip that just generally inspired me due to the attitude of vlad that I try to apply to what I do, I thin vlad is from rotorworx and I believe has pushed the envelope when it comes to rotors, but fuck rotors. He designed and built the plate ( insert technical name here ) containing all water jackets everything from scratch to add another rotor to build his own 26b..... I loved hearing him say his building it to his specs wll drag it, break it, see why it broke and build stronger and repeat.

If they can add another rotor imagining what went into it amazed me. why could someone not build an alloy A shaped ( well upside down V and fit 2 et heads on the one block either side of then flat sides having the pistons pass the deck height of the block.? Any money spent would be better poured into an sr20 or anything else really so no ones gunna do it but then again we all fell for the Santa trick or the tooth fairy? just a though.

And begin the laughter

In theory, you can fabricate anything. Ideas are good but practicality is always then problem.
Im guessing from the amount of work required to do what ur thinking would kill it before it began.

The ET engine is quite compact and lightweight and the bottom end is largely trouble free. Oil surging and oil related failures seem to be few and far between
Its also fair to say that the kind of E15's which might explore the extreme high rpm are speedway engines and they all run a dry sump setup and so do away with the issues of excessive windage, air entrainment in the oil, oil cavitation, sliging in the crank and pressure surging issues blah blah.

Thing is, the ET's main hobble is the head design, which is restrictive and there is precious little metal in there to enable you to create better port shapes but your still limited by a 2 valve design. Would explain why 220 od wheel Kw's is the best anybody has gotten. Thats peanuts for a mid sized 4 potter.

Now, sometimes manufacturers take and easy road with a new engine and quite often utillise designs and dimensions from proven older engines.
This can sometimes result in having a supply of really hi-po heads to bolt onto your clanger. RB's come to mind.
Some manufaturers can never buid a decent head and get other more successful manufacturers to do it for them and Toyota is a good example here with the Celica's of the mid/later 70's having the revered "Yamaha Head". In fact those heads on those motors (18rg I think) bear the unmistakeable "Tuning Fork" logo of Yamaha.
Another shining example one is the really popular 4ag 1600 engines. Toyota more or less just copied the king of them all, the Cosworth BDA and BDD twin cam heads found on Ford 1600 Escort/Capri/Cortina "Kent" blocks.

A fair few savvy members on here in days gone by have looked far and wide for a decent twin cam head to bolt on but sadly, nothing come close enough.
One of the dude father is pretty engine savvy and was busy designing a rotary valve head whivh in theory would work but in practise be just too damned difficult to do.

Unless your prepared to make your own billet head, the next choice would be a CA1600 complete twin cam engine. nice and light, proven design.

Yeah I had a ta22 celica with a t2g with a Yamahahaha head, went alright I guess. One thing have noticed about the n12 in general and I have only noticed this through my brother who I think even though is 6 foot 4 could be part japanese, with the knowledge he has of interchangeable parts, and I never hear the end of the different looks you can give your car in Japan in the way you mod it, I think one is called bongo or some shit, where the oil cooler sits in front of the grille, but the flares must be black blah blah blah he makes me sick. Anyway in all the convos we've had in the millions of photos of his I've looked through of old school front and rear wheel drive fully modded to the hilt cars, no one gives a fuck about the et, it slipped through the cracks I think. The motor is all by itself on an island not aloud to breed with anything on the mainland.... Any performance parts listed on any site skips the e15, i can see myself if not totally happy with numbers I run i'll go an sr20..... If I win tatts I'll design a twin cammer and make a fortune off all you bitches..... Though most modding an et aren't spending a fortune, my bro would have hit 50 grand and the vg30 not even in yet.....who wants to build a genuine replica bluebird jap taxi? Seriously.

This is an interesting discussion.

Just to add to what E said - I vaguely remember that discussion with the alternative head and also the rotary head, and I seem to recall piston/bore spacing to be an issue. There is uneven spacing between cylinders 2&3 when compared to 1&2 and 3&4

No other head had this spacing setup.

In this day and age with 5 axis cnc's it'd just take someone with an obsession in gettin it done and just design a new head.... Fuck I'd buy one for sure...... Though even after all that just dropping in a c18 would supersead in flow technology and just overall options with upgrades. Guess there is a point where you've pushed what you've got to its limits so move on, I can't wait to find those limits
