Source for new ring gear, bendix drive & clutch?

Post by Kimmo »

Can I just get the ring gear and bendix drive through Nissan? Or is there a cheaper way?

And as for the clutch, I'm not even quite sure what I need... whatever's appropriate for a standard ECUed donk running <15psi with a FMIC... I'm thinking like six second 0-100 sort of ballpark (I managed seven flat @10psi(?) with no IC).

I don't want a heavier clutch than I'll need...

Oh, any idea what I should be paying for this stuff?

As far as I know, you can only get the ring gear from Nissan. As for the clutch, give NPC as call on 07 3277 9403 or visit their site

Seems like the heavy duty organic looks about right.

Surely there's such a mob here in Melbourne though... I take it I'm gonna have to have my flywheel machined as well.

Is that right? It needs re-balancing with a new clutch?

Its always a wise idea to have the flywheel face machines when installing a new clutch assembly.
Just about any clutch made for an E15 will handle moderate boost but repeated high rpm launches will toast it.

For your pinion, just go and see any auto electrician.

Ring gears I have no idea other than oem. Might be worth trying a large engine reman. outfit.

Thanks for the tip... how's your pedal pressure with that?

What's the rationale there? It's a pretty beefy bit of metal, innit? Shouldn't it remain flat?

I reckon I'd prefer one I wouldn't feel bad about frying now and then, perhaps...

O_o

Auto elec, you say. Far out. And not only that, but any auto elec. A cert then, you reckon.

How's it come off, anyway?

Auto elects reman starters. Its a simple job. Bendix drives are held on the shaft with a funky little wire clip.\Ask one.

Machine a flywheel face? The same rationale as machining worn brake disks when replacing brake pads.
