You know
It would be worth the price of a return air ticket and accomodation just to go to sweden see this thing run, admire the handiwork and shake Bjorns hand ... repeatedly!

Awesome bit of hand built kit IMHO.

Thanks everyone for your support!
The car basicly stayed in one piece.
Best run for the weekend was 10,49 - 238kmh.

As I mentioned we ran on my old cluch. That was the one that was badly burnt in september 2006. We renovated it as good as we could but it wasnt good enough.
It started slipping slightly after two rounds and we took it out of the car two times between the rounds to remove cluch dust.

First round we tested a set of brand new tyres but they were faulty and had a difference in size.
That caused me almost to crash into the wall. I can tell you that wasnt pleasant at all. It was a big time struggle just to keep it on the track but I still ran 10,98s - 236kmh.

Second round I ran 10,49 - 238kmh but we tested a new gearbox and it showed out to have a pretty short 1st, a short 2nd and a high 3rd gear.
I lost all boost and all power when shifting...

After that the cluch started slipping more and more and we only ran slower and slower.
It also apears as if my flywheel has lost too much weight after converting it back and forward to fit different cluches...
...cos I cant remember it bogging that hard last year?

I was the fastest FWD-car at the event so I guess I cant complain,
but its anoying when knowing its capable of so much more.

Next race is weekend 25-26 august.
Until then we will have machined all discs in the cluch and have new driveplate-discs.
We have put together a new gearbox with gear ratios tighter than the last one, and with a 4,45 final drive instead of the 4,0 I ran 10,18 with.
Hope I can keep boost thrue the gears now.

Probably time for testdrive within a day or two.

I also made a film and uploaded it on video-google:

Cheers

Maybe you could get a set of these made?

And what's the point of a wheelie bar on a FWD?

to stop wheelies.......

more seriously though, theres two forces that act to list the from of a car:

The first is on RWDs and is the torque from the motor through the dif, it wants to turn the wheels but the wheels are held by the ground, so the equal and opposite reaction is for the car to turn arround the wheels, lifting the front. There is a little of this in FWDs, but because the rear wheels act as wheelies the main movement is a little lift and distortion of all the rubbers in the engine mounts.

The second is for the pitching caused by the force being acted away from the centre of gravity, causing the front to lift and the rear to squat. This happens to all cars, but is the dominant event for FWDs. So the wheelie bars stop the back squating and reduce the front lift.

Ah, of course; it prevents a certain amount of weight transfer

The car weights 800kg over the front tyres, and 240kg over the rear.
When I launch away the rear springs compress and allow the wheeliebars to do their job.
Since they are located 160cm away, the car just weights 100kg over them.
That makes the remaining 940kg pressing down the front tyres...

Took the car for a spin on the roads yesterday evening,
but it didnt matter what boost I set it to.
As soon as I got boost it started spinning nomatter what gear I was in.
I raced against a friends 500bhp Hayabusa and he had the same type of problems... =)

Our target is to run a couple of 9sec passes during the weekend.

This is a Thompson coupling i believe....its an aussie owned invention too!

It appears that the wheelie bar helps keep the front down on take off since the engine twists up and there is alot of front overhang....thats just my observation....wonder if it helps between gearchanges too?

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Buells are a North American sportsbike powered by a Harley engine M8!!!!!

However, I have seen a 2 stroke a 'scooter with what looked like a T2 hanging offen it on the dyno and on road runs.

Was just about pointless off boost, barely accellerated but it took right off when it boosted. Something like almost 50 Hp from a tiny 2 stroke scooter engine.

Well, it was hard to say if it was even or not.
We both did our best to find traction but I belive my friend on the busa left more of his tyres behind him than me... =)

The race 850km from home last weekend was a disaster.
It was raining, raining and raining...
We got ONE qualifying round but it was a new track for me, and with so diffrent ratios in the gearbox I missunderstod where the finnishline was...
...so after passing the 201m line I let go of the accelerator. =/

Since I was afraid to bog I didnt do a correct burnout.
My slicks were verry cold so it took me 2,1s to pass 60ft.
201m took me 7,1s - 178kmh. I rolled pass the 402m line after 11,11s - 177kmh.
Feels like the gear ratios are really good.

Tomorrow saturday and sunday we will go to an airstrip nearby.
It will not be the best of tracks so no one knows if it will be possible to run fast there
but its well worth a try.
Saturdays race is dot-tyres only and on sunday its slicks racing.

I will try to keep you updated as good as I can.
Cheers
Bjorn
