Mate you definitely need to turn the boost UP!! It won't ping if you see over 20psi (no guaranteed it won't detonate though). OK seriously wind the boost right down you don't even have an intercooler on there. Don't go above 10psi with stock turbo, i wouldn't even go that high without an intercooler...

Yeah 25M i'm almost certain i have a 25M on my car now, but i've had that many different head's on there i forget. I'll check in the morning, but i think i've had one on before. Looking at the pics its pretty much the same as the 15M has the good intake ports. For $280 that is a steal! To get a head...

Paint is looking great. I look forward to the final product.
I think the turbo is way too big!! Is it even going to fit let alone spool?

The t28 is a good turbo, wouldn't want to be much laggier though.

Topic: How to change engine rings in a E15 turbo engine€???

You can change the rings without taking the engine out. Simply take the Head off and Sump. Undo the connecting rods and push the pistons up and out of the block. You can then change the rings, you'll just need a ring compressor to put the pistons back in. However inspect the turbo first, much easier...

Cylinder 4 must run a bit leaner than the rest because that's where the E15s tend to blow the gasket due to detonation from lean mixtures. I know mine did when i was running it untuned.

whoa so its gone from 220kw to 320kw?? Hmm as much as id like it to be true i won't believe it unless I see proof. How would the e15 ports even flow that much power, and it would have to be running NOS to spool a turbo that large.

Id be gobsmacked if it were true.

A new gasket won't fix it. There shouldn't be any oil in the exhaust there at all. Pull the plugs out and see if they're oily.

The supplier isn't open until Monday apparently and I'm going on holiday for a few days so won't be able to order the rings until the new year.

meh they have definitely given me the wrong rings. For some reason they have "Veale RNG1644LB" written on it but the ACL sticker says C1089 to suit rover (which the guy kept saying is it for a rover when i quoted the part no.) The bore of the rover is bigger and the rings are .2mm thicker ...

New rings to Old pistons?

I'm freshening up my wifes old ET to sell. It has the original pistons in it. I planned just to replace the rings with standard size ACL rings, and put a reconditioned head on. I picked up some rings today but they don't fit the pistons, either they gave me the wrong rings or the ACL pistons have th...
