Yes there is a correct torque which will be in the manual somewhere or someone should know here. NO, those bolts do NOT require Locktite!!!! Id be very seriously checking your flywheel mounting face, the bolt holes and the back of the crank for any enlarging on the holes and fretting on the mating ...

i only just got around to pullin the engine out ...srry 4 taking so long to update.......... i went and tamperd with the timing and may have made things worse .. i just read ET87 post that suggest it could be a loose flywheel since i recently changed the clutch and flywheel ... sigh!... gonna take t...

Have you replaced the timing belt recently it sounds very much like you may be getting piston slap mate, it would make sence because you said you gave it a bit then all went to shit, you may have slipped a tooth on the timing if you like pull you timing belt cover of and line the arrow up in the ca...
