Hey ! thought i'd start a project thread here. This is my first cherry so i don't know all that much about these cars. * I will be copying in the pics from another project thread so some stuff might be off *
Bought it about 1 month ago now, had a blown headgasket and alot of electrical errors. Most are sorted now.
Engine:
2,5" turbo piping
2,5" exhaust from the turbo
aftermarket blow-off valve
Malpassi Fuel pressure regulator
Volvo 740 turbo fuel pump ( along with the stock one ).
This is what i know whats done to the engine
Plans:
Engine version 1..
3" exhaust from turbo []
T25 or T28 turbo []
Ca18det injectors []
Saab 9000 intercooler [/]
Bigger cooler []
bigger electrical fan []
Bodywork:
Some rustwelding to quarterpanels, and etc. []
other rims []
That are about the plans for now.
anyways to pictures!
The car itself, when i picked it up
First thing i did was remove the head
Packningen va i nyskick.
2 av ventilerna på toppen såg lite smått intressanta ut
_____
new gasket
the "new" head
Head back on, just need to torque it
Head is now torqued, not much left.
And the reason for all the electrical problems
Not much left, new oil and sparkplugs.
And here where i am today! 2012-07-09
Engine is all put together and is ready to be started. I just need to figure out why i got no spark or fuel pressure.

I've managed to get the original fuel pump to run, so now i have the original as a pickup and the volvo 740 turbo pump just outside the tank. For some reason i cant get ANY gas out of the tank. Which leads me to think something must be wrong with the original fuel pump?
i tried to take it up from the tank earlier today, but it seemed to big to get through the hole?.
My ideas are:
EITHER taking up the original pump and make sure it's not clogged or anything, then put back down.
Or to remove the original one and put the 740 one in the tank instead..
Anyone else have better ideas? something that i might have missed, or maybe something else is wrong?

The pump/sender unit is a little tricky to get out and needs to be turned this way and that but it will come out.
Make sure you replace those 3 fuel lines with new and T-bolt clamps while your at it.
If the Volvo pump is an intank type then yes.
That head gasket was well blown!

Sorry for OT
I just got back from my garage, quite a long night hehe.
First thing i did was i made a plate for my gauges, not the prettiest thing in the world but it sure does the job! Also i was able to get fuel up from the tank!! i just need to buy some bigger fuel hoses and some clamps and the fuel side should be fixed
A crooked template
and in plate, precision cut with a plate scissor, and awesomly painted with a crappy can
and wow.. they even work
Anyone have any idea where these cables should go?

They look more like connection to the alternator, the black plug with the big spades will be the connection to the battery I think. The other may be the dummy load.

Okay hmm, it does look like the cables coming from the alternator. However the battery is relocated to the back, and i cant really figure out how to plug them in?Damo wrote:They look more like connection to the alternator, the black plug with the big spades will be the connection to the battery I think. Are they needed to be plugged in?
