I'm gonna bear that in mind. Mine cost $700, and it's shit.

...Just had a thought about a possible technique to get a smoother transition in the collector.

If you have an oxy, you could leave more than a quarter of the tube on the small end, then heat it up and bash it flatter so it still only goes through 90°, but at a larger diameter.
SDC10134.jpg~original.jpg
Then when you join the four of them, the taper would be shallower for a given length and this end would be larger. Also, the internal ribs formed by the meeting tubes wouldn't be as deep.
SDC10141.jpg~original.jpg
Just an idle notion... dunno if it's a good idea or not

Its not that critical M8.
Particularly on a turbo manifold. The diameter of that merged end is nothing more than what has to line up with the turbo flange.
Your never going to see more than one actual pulse traveling thru it at any one time so its never going to be any restriction anyway..

Its been well documented the gains to be had by actually necking the collector diameter down just beyond the merge and then opening it back out again to the finished collector diameter in atmo extractor systems.

The dimensions of the piping on a top end header system is a sum of the engine capacity, bore and stroke, the cam timing, port diameters, predicted max RPM and predicted torque peak, header pipe length and a host of other parameters.
The whole show is then varied again by projected EGT's.
Its a black art akin to designing a well running expansion chamber for a 2 stroke.
All the theory in the world will not guarantee a good result.

When the manifold is put under pressure, all that beautiful theory goes well out the window and remarkably high numbers can be had with a simple log style manifold. In fact very difficult to top even with a carefully designed and tuned extractor system.

hey Andrew would you consider making manifolds on other makes and models?
