Anyone heard of tyre stretching?

Basically going the big rims and different wheel width profile.

Anyone know more or have you done it?

I reckon it would just make your rims subjective to some gutter rash and damage.

Its all good to a point, but does become a bit dangerous if you go to far. I'd pick my stretch would be on the dangerous side... The general idea behand it is to reduce tyre flex when cornering

just don't let your missus drive the car and give the rims the gutter rush. lol.

I'd argue tyre sidewall flex is promoted during cornering with a mounting setup like that - if that bead moves you are finished. The tyre is pre-tensioned towards the direction of force - thus promoting running on the sidewall as it leans over. Meanwhile the inside sidewall is also promoting that behaviour as it trys to pull back into shape. You would have to run a HUGE pressure i'd reckon.

I wouldn't trust them for any type of motorsport - but heaps of people do...

But they look good.
