TX3 vs ET

what do yas reckon? i wanna buy a tx3 has anyone had one of these b4 and if so r they shit boxes or what i know the ET has its fair share of problems but i guess all cars that age do.... im just getting sick of my ET

I had a KE tx3 4x4, it was very heavy and felt every bit of it. Apparently the FWD KE versions were quicker. This was all a while back, not sure on 'old age' reliability.

the awd tx3 is prone to demolishin boxes when u thrash em. the fwd boxes last for a bit longer but either way ur lookin at a pretty weak box. as long as u drive sensibly itl last but that depends on ur ryt foot.
if u go for one take to a mechanic u trust to check the box or at least listen to it when u drive to make sure u havent got a tickin time bomb on ur hands. i know this from previously ownin a couple of em n havin mates drive em.

Wholy damn!! what do u listen for with the box??? grinding or something. is it noticable outside the car?? never had anyone drive my car when I'm outside it...

Listen for whining, crunching, hard changes. Feel for stick vibrations. and before you start you could check the oil from the fill hole and see how black or gritty it is.

sweet thanks!!! yea I recently did all my oils again, using some valvoline oil for my gear box from supercheap but it should be good stuff..
whining like in reverse?? thats normal on n12's isn't it the reverse whining...

Have fixed many a CAS on TX3's too........ The earlier ones eat them all the time.

Is the only reason your going for a TX3 is cos it's got a turbo?

I just got an AE92 Corolla SX, 100kw 4age. Love the 7200 redline. A lot more scope to mod than the TX3.

Just be open to other options.......

if its a TX3 4wd stick with the E15et powered beast. Side by side ET wins couldnt lose me in the corners either. I had a mate with a modified one made all the right noises but still got flogged by a shitty ET haha I still think he holds that against me
