classic short film that one. it's interesting that the car sounds like a Ferarri 275GTB but isn't. it is actually a Mercedes 450SEL! the dude that made the film and actually drove the car actually dubbed in the sound of his own Ferarri 275GTB over the Merc.

and then there was Nissan's wacky attempt at a remake with a 350Z

?????????????????????????????? are you sure Ash? I saw that at least 15years ago and was told at the time that it was a Ferrari. Seems awfuly low for a Merc!
After reading the Wiki, I'm still not convinced. How back in the mid 70's would you be able to dub the sound of one car over the vid footage of another! Especialy when one would be quite a bit quicker than the other.
Allthough, what you see and hear don't have to match 100% to seem convincing. <shrugs>

Ive seen that vid and read the hype attached to it.

Its a crock. Its a clever bit of film and sound editing for a movie and nothing more.
Movie makers have been dubbing over film footage since time began dubbing on other engine sounds to footage. It even happens in documentaries using live footage.

The most irritating kind is the yank foley operators or sound editors incredible desire to dub 4 stroke sounds over obviously 2 stroke bikes and vice-versa, even in sometimes big budget movies.

Has much the same effect on me as motorcycle riding footage where the bikes are obviously strapped on a trailer and the camera crew on the back of a ute towing the trailer a-la- ChiPs or even Top Gun... puh--leeeeze!

My 2 bobs!

thread revival!

I understand the need for conformity. Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense.
