Heh, you wanna use something much less potent than thinners on paint or plastic...

Like WD40 : p

Seriously, I think that given the chemical similarities between sticky shit and paint and plastic, you wanna use the mildest thing that'll do the job.
And WD40 only just does it. It's not ridiculously hard; you just have to soak the shit in it for a little, then gunge up a rag wiping the bulk of it off; it comes off pretty easy unless it's really baked on, but sort of uses the rag up and leaves a residue. Then you get a clean bit of rag soaked in WD40, and that'll take off the residue like a breeze.

And it's pretty much guaranteed not to fuck anything else up.

thanks for the reply mate. but the citrus remover solution worked a treat without damaging any of the paint
