A m8 of mine is building a pretty serious bit of kit for his 1970 Notchback Ford Mustang.
Originally, it was going to be a warmed over big block 460 Ford. Just a drop in and drive kind of thing.
Well, my M8 is incapable of leaving things alone and its grown a bit. Its now out to 540 Cu. In but still might go to 600 Cu.In
Its all old school running on carbs and a distributer.
usual drivetrain stuff, the ubiquitous top loaded and a 9" loaded with a Detroit.
The fist pix shows a mockup of the beast. The heads are verrrry trick Edelbrock ally racing heads with the biggest freaking stainless valves you have ever seen....gawwwd... Almost 2.5" inlets.
For those who appreciate good DIY workmanship check out the inlet manifold, the offset dizzy drive and the dizzy itself. The offset dizzy mount and the dizzy itself have been machined from billet.
The tunnel ram manifold is a work of one-off hand made art and has been entirely designed with the aid of existing clobber modified with the aid of a very sophisticated computer programme and then fabricated and machined by hand!!

The engine is loaded with some very tasty internal goodies including a beautiful forged Chro-Mo custom crank, Scat forged rods. I cant remeber what pistons they are going to use use as they have not decided on a displacement just yet.
Forged roller rockers by Yella Terra, custom ground billet roller cam and roller followers....damn its like a hotrod engine warehouse catalogue!!!!!

I placed a steel engineers rule against them for scale. Serious kit eh?
Lastly, you have to see these carbs... O...M...G!!!
They are a kinda custom thing based on double pumper Holleys by Barry Grant and are about 1200CFM each.
You can almost park your fist in the throats.
Around 2 grand each!!!!!!!
Anyway, the computer programme very conservatively predicts predicts well over 1000 Hp and this is from a carbed engine so you get the idea of the magnitude of this animal and what kind of revs and so-on it will need to do this.
All for a road registered Mustang!!!!

Dont for one minute doubt the HP figures claimed tho!
His historic Mustang race car produces 640 Hp @ 8200rpm out of 289 Cu.Inches (the computer programme predicted this almost to the horsepower) so there is little doubt this big block will produce in excess of 1000HP.... I have already booked myself a run in it.
