Hi Guys,
After deciding it was time to part with my n13, I set my eye on finding an n12 exa/et pulsar in good condition. After lots of trawling the classifieds, I located Dean's one down in canberra. The gf drove me there in her car in anticipation, and I ended up buying it and driving it home to sydney. At the moment it has been returning 7.5l/100km and has 133kw atw, and I am very happy with both these figures.
A lot of quality work and parts has gone into this exa in the past, and it is running immaculately. There is barely anything to fix/upgrade at this point in time, and it brings a smile to my face everytime i start her up
Here is a list of the work done to it to this point in time:
Engine:
E15et engine rebuilt 4 years ago and driven seldom
40 thou ACL duralite pistons
ACL main bearings
King big end bearings
Re-ground crankshaft
Stage 3 watson cam
Fully balanced rotating assembly
Rebuilt and ported head
Rebuilt and ported inlet manifold
VL throttle body
Garret GT2876r turbo
4 inch unifilter
Custom exhaust manifold
3 inch dump pipe
50mm external wastegate and screamer pipe
2.5 inch mandrel bent exhaust system after 3 inch dump pipe
Microtech MT4 Computer
Custom billet fuel rail with speedflow fittings
550cc injectors
Walbro fuel pump
Turbosmart fuel pressure regulator
Turbosmart megasonic BOV
FMIC (450x300x76) with custom chrome piping, heat wrap and turbosmart elbows
2 large thermo fans
Oil catch can
85 amp alternator
Battery relocated to boot
Drive Train:
N12 turbo 5 speed with LSD (rebuilt gearbox)
RPM high performance clutch
Suspension/Wheels/Brakes:
15 inch alloy wheels
Pedders lowered springs front and back
Pedders shocks
New ferodo performance brake pads
New front brake rotors
Interior/Stereo:
Clean and original series 2 interior with slight wear on front seats
Aftermarket steering wheel
Carpets all replaced
Turbosmart boost gauge
In-car Microtech handset
Kenwood CD player with USB and AUX
Sony 400w amplifier
Kenwood 12inch sub in custom ported box
Exterior:
Full yellow respray done about 4 years ago
Deleted plastic mouldings
Deleted rear wing
Bonnet modified to fit FMIC and also allow better airflow/reduce heat sink
Modifications that I have the parts for/will do soon:
-stock bonnet to be resprayed
-new switches for demisters and hazards (because I am retentive about having old cars look as new as possible)
-whiteline front sway bar
-swap 15" white CSA rims from the n13 over
Future work/modifications:
-install a turbo timer/alarm system
-detail engine bay
-rebuild front brakes
-upgrade to ET 4 wheel disk brakes, which also allows for a rear sway bar to be added
-replace oil return hose with braided line
-replace stock rear struts with some firmer ones
-strut braces and nolathane bushes
Cheers,
Mike
