Andrews 86 langley turbo **AWD PROJECT***

Post by JETETT »

Name: Andrew

car: 1986 nissan langley
Image
Location: wollongong

mods formally a stroked E17ET, engine replaced with a standard red top due stroker putting a rod through the side of the block, the now strong standard red top motor has very strong supporting mods and for a un molestered internals it is a monster of a ride, very hard to keep traction in the dry, has no torque steer due to frying the tyres once on boost and no grip, so semi slicks are a must for the machine.

*Standard Red top E15ET
*Straight cut gear box (full crash box)
*heavy duty clutch with 1 tone pressure plate
*Custom exhaust manifold
*T28 turbo garrett
*custom split 3 inch dump pipe into 2 3/4 exhaust system
*Custom inlet manifold
*custom alloy air filter box with 4inch induction pipe
*intercooler
*custom intercooler piping
*bigger fuel system and fuel lines from tank to fuel rail
*bigger fuel pump
*550cc rx7 injectors
*RR Fuel pressure regulator
*2 stage boost controller 10psi to 15psi
*improved koni suspension and springs front and rear
*heavy duty sway bars front and rear (handles like a go kart)
*slotted and cross drilled rotors front and rear
*microtech ecu
*16 inch white starcorp rims
*standard radiator with alloy over flow tank
*remote oil filter for easy access, and front mounted oil cooler

future mods wack on my spare performance head ported and polished with 3 angle cut seats and valves and duble valve springs, head studs, and my new GT2876r turbo with a turbosmart 38mm external wastegate and a re-tune as its still tuned for the stroker which was puching just over 200kw atw, so hoping for at least 200kw with this engine.

More to list when i have the time and pics

***UPDATE***

Pulled the s14 t28 turbo off this arvo to find its pritty much gone, but this is gonna make way for my gt2876r that im picking up this week :D so in putting that on i have to customize the the turbo manifold so i can weld on a pipe to fit the 38mm turbosmart external wastegate that i will be putting on as iv asked my turbo builder to plug up the internal flap...

so tomorrow my bro who is also a mechanic has a flexi so iv asked him to rip the head off to make way for my one that iv ported and polished my self and other nic naks and double valve springs and a lumpy cam, only using the nissan head gasket as they do the job perfectly fine as i was told by the guys at motortech, and will finally get to use my arp head studs...

and later on in the week ill be picking up a lt10s with a 4bar map sensor (only going to run at least 25psi max) and x4igb, but have to get coils at a later date, and also picking up an HKS electronic boost controller which i will install this weekend coming...

also have to fix other things on the car like wiring under the dash when i pull it out re wire the radio and speakers fix a door handle and pritty much shift the interior out of my old et which is in perfect condition into my new one...

once all done and iv finished buggerizing around match porting the manifolds and put a cold idle bypass in and finally get the shit box together and the thing runs after i install the microtech, ill book it in for a dyno tune at motortech....

ill keep you's posted

cheers

goodies hidden under the carpet lol

out the front of the dyno joint

got the car on the dyno for a tune on 15psi, would of loved to run abit more boost but just to be on the safe side for now i wanted 15psi till i get a new ecu with a 3 bar map and a decent boost controller, and tidy up other things, car went really really nice on the dyno, everything went as smooth as possible. only took 2 hours to get everything in order, with such a big turbo, power figures were in the good considering the turbo was not boosted anywhere near its efficiency range ( in other terms its like having a 10" dong and only using 1" atm to get the job done lol ) untill i get a new ecu with a bigger map the thing will boogie on 20psi plus boost, so for now heres my first run in tune

There are literally dozens of cars that use the same type of screw-on filter...well the base part that screws on anyway.

You NEVER ask for anything outside the box and mention N12 or Pulsar Turbo in the same sentence. You will just get a blank stare or a "Nuthin made for that maaaaayte" comment.

Hi andrew,

Nice setup! Looks great.

Oil filter setup:

- What size cooler are you using and how much extra oil do you reckon you have to put in?

Darren.
Race it.
