in all honesty dude these cars are shit but they have so much character, are fun and go fairly well when running right. we still play around with these things because they are a fun addictive little shitbox! :D - Ash

i played around a little with the fitting today. slightly modified the standard reo bar to fit the bumper, and trimmed the inside of the guards to fit the bumper.

the 2 halves temporarily fixed. the will be glassed together at a later date

I'd hate to tell you but they aren't the original Gibson moulds, they were destroyed.
The proper guards are metal with bolt on fiberglass flares, the front bar is one piece, and the reAr flares are different. Either way they look close enough.

ah ok. old mate told me the front bar/spoiler is from the original mould...

the guard moulds i got mine from used an original set flares from the original moulds, adapted to the guards.

and yes, the rears are different. possibly a lack of enthusiasm by the manafacturer to finish them off properly, as per the gibson car.

not too sure, just going off what i was told.

yeah reason i say is because i was talking to the current owner of the EXA most of the weekend, i knew you were building this show i showed him some pictures. He said while the car was first privately owned there were never any moulds taken, gibson then bought all the cars for a museum but ending up selling them off and Justin now ownes it. He said maye Fred had a mould taken but the originals definatly arent around any more and Justin definatly hasnt had moulds done.

Gee, they are pretty wide, aren't they? You'll need shitloads of rubber to fill em...

Doesn't that mean you'll need to modify the suspension for the wider track?

finally have a weekend to myself so i thought i would try and get some work done.

i removed all the glass and started on the rust repairs. i havent got down and had a good look at the lower sills but i think they arent too bad. i got the cash together for the cage material now so that shouldnt be too far away, then i can really start hookin into the body work.

i also had a go at getting that ding out of the ass, looks tonnes better than it did.
