engine mods: very doggy pod filter setup
doggy 2 1/2 '' exhaust

interior mods: tape player

exterior mods: stock

wheels: stock

future plans: ground up rebuild
not sure of final out come but got to many ideas
but a rough outline is there

the long version of how i got her

read it if you want . if not please yourself. but i want some where to record this car,so here it goes

is started driving around 7 years ago at age 17 had no money and crappy job.so my dad borrowed me $1500 and he got me a 86 mitsubishi colt which i crash two weeks later due to me having no driving experience and that some one had been driving on the wrong side on the road in my direction and i swerved to avoid and crash (a fence pole went through the windsheild a almost killed me it was a big deal for me at the time was nervous driving for like 6 months after.

after that my dad loaned me money for like another 5 six cars. 3 for more
colts an n12 datuns and and vn commieand a 84 vw golf (thats when i got my first tatse of driving grunt) i didnt look after them and seized two got to defected and sold the commie for $300 and one colt my dad got was just sitting in the padock and never fix .
Image n10 after i sold it and saw it a u-pull it/wreckers the next day old man was also pissed i left an electric fuel pump worth $100 in the car when sold oooooooooppppppppss

at this point my dad was pissed and wouldnt lend me cash (i still owed him for the crap i funfed up.
so i was on my own.
at this time it was good i had friend to teach me how to make some money
and i got a job not far from home and did the dodge and a defected car 5 mins to work ( i wouldnt do it again)
and at that job got a vn wagon off a work mate that had got it two weeks prior from our boss ( hed put a recond vp engine and trans in it) paid $550
and was happy as larry. until i tried to put a steza in myself and fried the alarm so tring to do the right thing repairing what i f'd and some other repairs came to $1500 shit lucky got the work done on credit and he said pay when you can been yaers and still owe $500 .

ok pissed but back to being larry.


so happy that i started doing burn outs ( stooooooopid)
funfed the trans and there want another car.
good story was that now i had a good paying job and extra cash,so while at a friends place we started talking about cars i asked if him if he would have a spare sports car to buy as he had heaps of cars and i was expecting to kill wagon and if i was oging to spend mu own hard earned cash id want something sexy.

he told me that he had an NISSAN EXA .didnt know what it was but went to have a look .
damn it had been in an accident and the nose cone and front where pushed in. i wasnt keen. and i knew nothing of cars just how to service them,so fixing wanst much on the cards but, he told me where to get the parts from to repair and that when i got them we'd fix it together parts where $1200
the car was for sale for $400 and i had that ,so i did buy it

its a 1988 n13 exa gp model 003 stoked to be the owner

ok so i was driving the wagon and had got the exa but that wasnt going anywhere soon. funfed the wagon and was stuck with now car again

the old man was kind enough to loan me more money to buy another car so we went lookin and ond day jsut driving back from a job i was helping out with ( that helped) i spoted a car for sale near the beach
it was an N12 nissan pulsar none turbs (instant pulsar lover) and we asked about it and was told the head was leaking and needed new tires
hhhhhhhhhmmmm i like that it was lowered and and mags (dumb but turns out really cool)
the car was for sale for $400
the old man said we could fix it and hed teach me how coooool
so i decided after two days that if my dad got get the car for $200
and delivered to the house
two days after that i come home to find the car in the drive blocking the other car in the shed

so dad how much did you pay? $400 he says.
not happy as i wanted to try and hussle that $200
so hows the car now . not going anywhere.

if you want to drive now your going to have to learn how to work on this car . no complaints as i was getting in to cars and its was a good chance start

and i truly am greatful for the n12s magnificent car to work on easy for a beginner

replaced the head after recon was surprised how easy it was
and got the car rolling and regoed
wwwwwwwwwwwooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhoooooooooooo :D

but was told not to drive it as there where minor things my dad said the po po would pick me up for. ppppppppffffftt

i had wheels and i was going for a drive (stoooooooooooooooopid)

ha 45 mins later bang the man i blue
pulls me over for none function of brake lights dude they where working even when he check but thats what he sais he pulled me over for ggggggrrrrrrrrr
so he does me for twin exhaust to low battery clamp missing and when he asked me two sound the horn i looked in side to find there was none
the steering wheel was from an unknown nissan so being a smart ass pop my head back out the car and yelded at the coppa to move

shake of the head and a mate cackin in the passenger seat
got the canary and was told to got home

dumb dumb dumb i got the lot from the olds and i mean the lot .not the pissed off olds the ones where just plain disapointed in you ( that always makes it ten times worst)

but yet again my dad loaned me money. i had to use the best scaming to pull that off.

and i got a what was a good
red 85 n12 none turbs off a girl whos dad was a mechanic and hed looked after the car NOT

paid $700 $200 of asking price

drove it for two weeks and the head shat it self .

no way asid the old man your on your own ggggggggrrr OK

stressing with no car and and my dream of driving the exa dwindeling away

and also havin a fight over cash i wanted to borrow of the old man for the N13 (this caused us not to talk for 12 months NOT ONE WORD and we lived in the same house it was funny at times ( moving furniture )

no help for old man and on friend that worked no cars.
i pulled th defected n12 out the paddock and swaped the engines over

exchange engine in i swapped it with thw gear box thought is was easy that way as it was fine that way in the other car

grining for a week. un still unfaze but the popo i decided that id try to put the lowered suspensions fron the frist donor car to the second to find that they where cut springs .i would like it to be lower so i put them in.and i also put on the 15'' rims which i told where from a nissan blue bird trx

looked so much better and the body roll was gone COOL i was happy
at my first attempt at modding a car gay mod i know but it made that kid
smile.

another week later i was leaving work and i heard a car driving donw the road and it was makin a cool ppttttttss sound and i ask a oc worker that drove a r23 skyline how do people make the cars do that he looked at me funny and said dude thats a turbo with a blow off valve

oh ok

i went home and all i was thinking is man id be cool to have my car do that
i started ti think of the n12 exa doing that .the next day leaving work i heard the same car again i was long way away but could hear it got in my car and casual pulled out of work ad rove home thats where the loud car was comin from went around a few bends oh and i was wet had just been raining. and out of nowhere pops a black datsun 1600 with only the parking light on loosing control around my bend this was not drift he fnufed up big time i moved on to the ripple to avoid clipp some very small trees and then hit a stump .hed done a 360 and was i the middle of the road stalled and i aslo stalled but with my front mushed in .i jumped back in the car and wne t to try and get the details of the other driver but hed gone buy the time i had

dont really blame the dude as id would have driven the same at that time if i had that car

i then hobbled the 5 mins home and sat really very pissed off
in front of my car for like 2hrs
again no wheel ffffffffffffffffffnnnnnnuuuuuuuuffffffffff
aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
but i can fix car now if i put my mind to it

back to thw donor car i went and sorced the front end the only bad thing was the aporn was not so good but i got it going as the damage turn out to be just a exchange with only the left rear guard pushed in alittle.

on the road again

and one week later the gear box shits it grrrrrrrrr
i exchanged for the original gearbox

but could never figure out why the clutch wouldnt work
tried every thing i could com up with.
after a month that car went to the wreckers.

i then went a bout finally tring to get the n13 exa on the road .i paid a friend to cut to damaged parts off .i contacted the supplyers for the pats and was told $1300 gggggggggeeeeeeeeeezzz,didnt have it

i then got told about the forums and was told to try there

i was welcomed into nissanexa.com with open arms but no parts where reachable and i need them soon
was lucky to find a car at the wrecker that had all i needed
i paid for them and took them home

didnt think before going ot get parts about how id fit the front end of an exa into the back of a misti colt haha but i did it got em in carefully and tied the bonnet to the roof .

and was on the road again
the dream is alive .i was drivin a sports car that id fixed up i was pretty happy with myself. but now i was thinking of that ppptttttttts noise
so i called around heaps of people and places and was eventually told about an et turbo what the fnuf is that i said
i found out that my old n12 pulsar came out with a turbo
what and that there was an two door version aswell called the exa
ooooohhhh ive heard of the exa and dont like the front end so im not goin to get one of them

but like 6 months later one came up for sale in the paper
hhhhhhmmmmmmmmm $800
did been to like a million places to look at cars so i arrangeged the have a look



AND THERE SHE WAS

instant love
stock wheels with the turbo removed .owner said he'd removed it coz it was leaking from the turbo gasket causing problem he had aonther turbo to put on bot needed an actuator hes said its a t 25 but i dont think so
it for free if any one wants it dont know of condition you can just have it if you ask.

owner said that it was driving ok before he took the turbs off and that if he put it back on it'd be ok to drive home but he doesnt know how long it'll last like that .$500 is what ill give if i can drive the car away tomos and he need the room for christmas party so accepted

the next day i was given a lift by afriens dad to pick the car up
at the owners house i was told i just had to top up the water
than the car first start in 12 months having trouble
so the guys mate taps the end of the starter motor and she fires up
BIG GRIN FROM ME
i sing the papers and im off straight to the petrol station fill fuel and check fluid .then slowly drive off (oh car also had no rego)
i had trouble at the lights keepin it from stalling and it was hard to start some times had to get out of the car in mains traffic 4 time to tap the starter motor with that guys trick
the car seemed fine under boost GRIN GRIN GRIN MY FIRST TASTE OF TURBO AND INSTANT POWER GRIN
so i pulled over and told my mates dad what was going on and said ill be fine gettin home i just got to put my foot down and damn was that one of the best excuses ive had for boostin

made it home safely and no trouble from the boys in blue

another funny thing was that there where two bolts missing from the dump pipe causing it to leak and when i back of the throttle it would make a loud but bad and gay pppppttttttttsss sound i was thinking it was kinda cool but was well aware it was not good .two weeks later i paid to fix som things
bill came to $550
and the mechanic witch was a friend of the family just wouldnt stop shakin his head i asked him why
and he said youve gone and got a turbo head shake
the person who put the exhauts on wasnt going for power look at it it so restritive and mate look at the pod it bits of drainagr pipe and not even the proper bitsand its held in place with zip ties damn boy HAVE fun you got a good job?


after that i pretty much molested the car and after two monts it was dead
on the last trip home i was doing 8kmh fot 40km just to get it home .i made it just

now this car aint getting sold and i want to fix it

but i know nothing of turbs

at this time i decidee it was time to see the n12 exa off and tried the nissanexa.com forums and the very very gladly stumbbled across N12TURBO.com

and a little while after that DJ DJOX had engines for sale i got one and dumped it in ssssswwwwwwwweeeeeeeeetttttttt she was
oh and now that the modd bug had hit me after the n12 gay modds that id do the same the the exa

aslo while the exa was off the road i got a holden astra that i found out was the same s#it and that it was a n12 pulsar

i had the front end offthe exa and started to notice howmany parts where the same and but this time id been well aware of the et a exa beine the same so i tried to put the exa front ont the astra and it work WOW.
i gave it a real shit paint just to make panels the same coz it was light blue with bright yellow and i mean s#it paint job Image
thats it in the back groung whean it been sittin unused for several mounths

i lost my licence while driving the astra for not displying p-plates.

big killa for me and the exa no car no job no job no money

so i got no work done plus for 12month i was lost in what direction i want to go but now i got some sort of an idea

there are some change that have happened to the car since the new engine,the new one had the log removal done so i did the afm relocation.put the astra front end on had a different tape player for a while.
connected boost gauge and a blow of valve.

but last week i got rego for it was going to take it for a spin just had to do some minor final touches . the very last thing on the list was just slide the tape player back in and go .but while doing that got smoke rising from dash quickly pulled the battery leads off .then pulled the stez out to find the positive from the stez had no fuse ( i should have made sure but in all the time owning just didnt i know better now) and waas melted

dont no what else ive damaged

so the cars coming up part and the long need body work will start

took the dash out firtst time on dash as never wanted to touch it always scared i was going to mess thigs up but it was easy of in 20mins

front rear and doors off

seats and belts removed

more to come as i get to it next is engine removal easy done


also for got this car was hit by a truck 4 month into ownership

was only doing 15kmh in a construction zone on a mainroad (new south road under pass on anzac hyw)
and the truck next to me just turned into me hit the drivers door pushed the car up on two wheel driver side wheels where 1 1/2 off the ground.car was moved like that along the road into the enterance of the the construction yard about 30 meters away before the truck driver stopped
blocking the enterance.furious and jammed against the bull bar of a double bb i released the seat belt quickly wiggled out the passenger window and was going to kill the driver but held back with a dum face he said oh sorry mate i didnt see your car

you dumb cont how did you not see it its bright yellow

pissed and kneeling by the car worker apon apon worker in the yard get buggin me to move the car and i told them to font off its not going now where till the cops get the give me a phone and i call them funf

i had to start fending them off there where(1'' away from biggest punchon in my life and they where big blokes about 30 of then ) 50 60 double bb trucks backing up on the main road waiting and the contractors where starting to loose thousands a cop finally came 30 mins later (stupid with all that traffic back up should have been sooner)
told me to move the car and i said look at it the tires a pushed off and the sides pushed in

i was able to start it and hobble 50 meters

with out asking me the cop calls a tow truck and than make me wait as it arrives. then tows it 4 km awyw to his yard

next day i arrange to pick up the car when callong the yard i told them id be changing the whells a attempting to drive home

i was told mate there tube less and i think itll be ok if i just kind of pump them up

on arrival at the yard my car was ready

i gave him a bag of home grown pears and paid the $480 bill for the 4 km trip gggggggrrrrrrr

the car was fine to drive home

got it home and found the only damage was the drivers door i stressed for nothing the body is straight as no prob thought it was mus worse.


oh i got 15 '' aus car rims off FARK from nissanexa.com for $200 had to shave some of the swing arm was rubbing on bends was going fast

got a turbo timer a while back just never put it in
and a pulsar gtir intercooler but dosent fit the way i want it to and loos shabby

still have to figure out how the old mans not sure but said well get it in together

i was kind of trin to make them like the gp but didnt like the out come the lines where to small
i might look good if the painted lines where fata so youd see less of the lens but they dont fit anyways

the bumpers bent due to me parkin in a friends driveway and when departin his house he reversed into me i was just sittin rollin a smoke

had bodykit quoted 12months ago $1200 primed and fitted great price

just aint picked it up yet

will be for the end of the year (money)

same guy will custom make rear lights

and probly the bonnet scoops aswell ,unless i pick one put thats already got them in it.

im also custom fittin the bonnet hindges off a mitsubishi colt so the bonnet goes forward and i use pins to hold it down

ill also be wanting to do the rear disk conversion
have been for ages missed out on parts from AADAIN by one week

paint is going to be black and white mostly white same on interior

removing back seat ill check but i think the department had got i regod as a two seater anyways a mistake on there be half that i love but it got to check

my dad gave me his spare electric window motors and stuff out of a peugeot 505 turbo diesel ill try fit em not sure if itll work

thats all i can think of for now

this is a 1981 diesel te holden gemini with the isuzu engine
i run it on recycled canola oil 5.5 per ltr
finished the pod pod filter fitment but will most likley remove (the POPO)
dad lent me his 81 i think volkswagon gti golf diesel turbos spare rims
not in pic and i dont think there the factory gti rims but they fit and and brand spankin new tires
full service
but had to wait unitl today to put the glow plugs in and while was at it degreased the rocker cover
only payed $1000 got a spare motor with only 100,000 on it
6 full sets of different rims all with new tires
theres 13'' gemi rims and datsun rims all come with cetre caps

same guy i got the wagon off also has a diesel gemi sedan i want ot pick up the bodys shot but i can find a donor body
ill get i for 400 when i can finally get in touch will him always going to thailand for roots

if your reading this and you got a fuel cap hinge id love to hear from you the dodge plastic one broke cant find a replacement and dash mines cracked bad dash cover might do i look for one of them

is a a bit of a shock . i dont like the bumpers want to get crome ones

new update

as i fried the wiring i decided to start the build over and do it right

want to have it finished in 12 months
(i hope,and it but might get it on the road sooner)

I say you should keep up with it mate, the n12's really are great when you put some time and effort in, which you are doing.

1. Yes I read it and I know you didnt say exas are crap, you just told him to get a ke70 and now you are saying that a corolla is a better car and you are doing all this on an n12 forum.

Sorry for the hijack Triceone just dont want you to bin the exa. If you do solid mods and fix the things that are stuffed you will end up with a fun car. They do take quite a bit of time/money to look after but its well worth it.

CHEERS RYAN and yeah if grown up alot since all that bulldust

i did get rid of every thing only got the exa and the gemini and thats the good runner
n12 is the way to go for me bottom feeder turbo im addicted and in love with them, and i can lift the engine with one arm hold it and then put the engine mount bolts in and i only weigh 56kgs cant do that with any other car ive worked on and most of the time i stand in the engine bay while working hehe

brakes and suspension parts i hope to recieve in two months

cash gggggrrrr as usual

new job good cash flow

ill get to that driving course soon but i dont think i need it now as i drive slower than my grandmother
