Well, I'm certainly not ashamed, by any means.
Anyway, the weather's cleared up now, for a few days, anyway, so this week I hope to have the time to put it all back together. I'm missing driving the little thing, and I want to go fishing again!

Yes, that was supposed to be a wry 'unfortunately'....I meant that my photos are nice, but then I see the work of my friends - some of which hang in some very up-market places (not to mention the price...ahem), and I have to put it into perspective.
It's all good, though. I really like the reservoir shot. The water is an amazingly deep blue, and the N12 looks pretty cool, as well.

Yeah, sorry about that. I'm also English, so you also have to deal with everything being wry, understated, dead-pan, etc. It even drives me up the wall.
As for a turbo, yup, did think about it...but there's something I like about it being totally, unbelievably gutless, if not just the way it sends my passengers completely insane.
Not to mention those behind me. So, if any of you do ever end up following, nope, that's all it has, it 'aint going any quicker!

Okay...about put the head back on, but just called Nissan, and they cannot supply all the new head bolts (the are in different sizes).
I have seen some on the 'net, but would like to know the quality is okay.
Can anyone recommend a source?

So, after replacing the head gasket and being paranoid about every new sound I heard, finally got to go on a nice drive to the Snowys for some fishing and test the car.
It ran like a dream, smooth and reliable. Seems to have a little more power than before, which helps on this one.
Chucked the bed in, and slept in some awesome country. Even caught a lovely 2kg trout - on my very first cast!
Also bought some second-hand parts from a wreckers, just in case; starter motor and such, including the thermostat housing, the large section that houses the distributor. The original one is well corroded, quite thin in some places, the one I bought looks like new. I was quite surprised how good a condition it was (or, how crap the original one is!)
So, next trip is to drive down to Melbourne, on the ferry, and a tour of Tassie. Before that, hope to swap the drivers seat for something more supportive and comfy. The standard one isn't too bad, but it all helps.
Also, my mate has one of the Thule roof pod thingies, so I'll take that as well.
