Alby's Lil White ET

Post by albyexa »

Name: Alby
Location: St Albans VIC
Year/ Model: 87 ET
Colour: White
Period of ownership: Nearly a month

Performance: When I got the car off BLUE ET it was running like complete dogshit, it was non turbo and had low compression across all cylinders, so it was like a low compression, low compression engine... if that makes sense.
I put on a t28, fmic, 2.5" exhaust and started it up only to find the rings have gone completely and it needs either a rebuild or replacement engine...
Luckily I have a rebuilt engine in my former 85 Exa that a couple of mates BLUE ET + ET87 have takin for abit of a ride/thrash and they seem to think it goes quiet good...
So now to swap ova the engines and get her running just right...

Engine Mods: Rebuilt, t28, fmic, 2.5" exhaust and cooler piping I'll add more later

Interior Mods: Retrimmer front seats and door trims, original rear seats, door pods boost gauge

Exterior Mods: Big cooler stickin out the front...:D

Wheels: 14" ET rims (black)

Other:

Future Plans: Swap ova the engines and get her transfered.

looks tough mate, but i reckon you should try to mount it further back so you dont have to cut the grille, just trim the back of it. Stealth mate, and if you need another grille nick'a'part in kilsythe has a few na n12s with the grey grilles. But come past on sat if you get it goin by then, i wanna go for a ride!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

And if you need a hand and i can get a lift down your way ill be more then happy to lend a hand.

Good luck

you've done well with the rocker cover - looks really good. top effort

not a fan of the chopped up fron though.
would look a whole lot nicer with the intercooler hiding behind the bumper and grill

Hey guys...
It's been quite awhile since I've posted on here but I'm bak!!!
My lil white ET has been off the road for about 4 months...
I deprived the poor thing of precious oil and one faithful night doin 160 with 4 people in the car... i down geared to 4th and the revs just dropped.... :(
That was a sad night for the lil beast...
Turned out I ceased the bottom end bearing or sumthing like that and my motor was no good... :(:(:(
Anyways I got a motor from born2run in Sydney...
Installed it after a fair bit of lazyness and guess wat... ITS ALIVE AGAIN!!!!!!:D

With a black hood...;)

Looks suprisingly good. Question. Does spraying the IC with paint have any considerable effects on its cooling efficiency? Is is just matt black from an auto shop spray can? I've always wondered about the painted intercooler and it would suit my build.

Cheers,

It's possible that the paint will hurt conduction more than it will aid radiation; if you're gonna paint an IC, I'd only give it a real thin coat. But there's prolly not much in it.

On the other hand, if you get it anodised black, it's all win.
