Just thought I'd let you know. I haven't read my standard temp gauge coz it's never been connected, but my running temp is 80 - 84 deg. With a reasonable amount of coolant it's never been an issue or overheated. And I'm only running one thermo.

Thanks Guys

I really do love it...

When I'm not wanting to burn it...LOL

Thinking back.... It's not all the work that you have to do....
My catchphrase...
Everything is close... so you can modify it to work...
But then again...
Everything is close... but everything need to be modified....

When I think back...
The biggest problem was not the Prairie being full of rust or all the modification....
Grafting on the camry sunroof, making new fuel rails and adding a surge tanks and pumps...
making a body kit or even working out how to splice 2 looms together.... etc
No... none of that...
It was the absolute dodgy donor car I got.....
Reading over the post and looking at the history,
Every real problem stems from that donor car and the guys that built it.
What where they doing...
Not only should dodgy bastards like that not be allowed to touch cars...
They should have there eyes poked out for thinking about it...
What amazes me most is that it was ever on the road.

Anyway
My next problem....LOL
With where the engine sits... and putting in the ET radiator,
Plus with a not so good downpipe (that touched the radiator in the donor)
There is no or little room for a fan.
So a while ago, I manages to squeeze a small 9" thermo fan in the bottom corner.
Hoping that with such a large radiator it would "just" do the job...

Image

I got to admit that it was my own anal fault that I wanted the intercooler in the middle,
were originally it was to one side with a fan next to it.

Image

But alas..... now I have been able to run her to temp.
It is obvious that on a hot day in traffic, she will overheat.
She got to 3/4 when I noticed it and shut her off...
So what to do.
There is no room.
and I am not going to modify radiators and change dump pipes.

So I thought.... give throwing some little fan on the outside a go.
Hoping that this might just give enough to keep it cool.
but the best I could do is squeezing in 7" and not over the core.
So I got 2 x 7" (babies) ($20 each cheapies)

The one on the passenger side fits ok,
but 1/3 is over core, 1/3 is over end tank and 1/3 over well nothing.
but I made a cowling for it to mount to which covered the half that was over nothing...
This forces all the air out over the core... Be it only about 4" worth.
The second was worse, as the intercooler pipe crosses the bottom corner,
so the best I could do is face it towards the radiator about 1.5" off
and only half of it is over the radiator.
But still, with the Prairie not moving there is air moving though on this side.

Image

Anyway... they help a little.....
and when you get all 3 working, it was holding its own.
And that's all you can ask.

New Running temp
fine with me....

Yeah... 100%...
I just think that a single 9" in the bottom corner was just not enough.
but as I said..... It seems to be holding its own now with the 2 blowing and one sucking.

Strange, I have a single 10" fan pulling from the passengers side. I dont have any overheating issues using the stock ET radiator.

Now, my stock guage goes right to 3/4 BEFORE the fan switches on. However, I know this is only 90deg.C via the coolant temp indication on the ECU diagnostics.
DO NOT take much notice of the stock guage. They are an INDICATION only of things going on.

Your drawing a lot of electrical power to run all those fans. I hope you have placed a relay between them and the stock radiator switch.

Consider running your single fan on its own thermal switch and pull the other two in on a seperate thermal switch with a higher temp setpoint purely as a backup.

Strange....all I can imagine is that there is no traffic in Tas.... and the weather never gets above 18 LOL

No, I dont know... maybe the cheap Chinese fan.

But better to be safe....

To tell the truth I did not think about the current draw.
I will definitely put a relay in.... once I have the energy.... later

I Thought I'll post some pic's of why anyone would want to do up a Prairie.

But first... I dont think I showed the spare wheel.
I mentioned that with the twin exhaust I could not leave the spare under the car,
so I got a space saver and put it under the rear seats.
With the seat moved all the way back,
you can see it sitting nicely out of the way.

OK
I was sewing the covers and thought I'll take some quick photos before I pack it all away.

In the rush I did put the mattress in the wrong way around,
But you can see what it will be like.

One of the reasons to have a Prairie

And it's just the right height,
There are plans to put a 15" monitor in the roof that will flip down
for night cinema and comfort LOL

And packed away

I guess the next big job is to pull my finger out
and complete (re upholster) the interior

Took it out for a little run around the block.....

Found the brakes spongy

Had a look... and it looks like the master cylinder is leaking.
Don't know where I am going to find one or what to replace it with...
I have a ET one, but that has 4 lines and the Prairie has 2..
Plus it looks like the prairie one 7/8 which from what I know is a little bigger size than the standard pulsar.

Lol, Dealing with modified cars daily, I see this stuff all the time, & 9 times out of 10, if theres something small like a intercooler bracket missing then the rest of the car is also just tied together, Wasn't implying your car is like what I sometimes deal with
