Pulsar Exa Turbo

Post by TBON12 »

Hey all I thought it was about time I did this here as I have on PGA but I seem to be here alot too.

Ok well I bought this car off my brother BOOSTIN back in November.

She was once a lifeless soul and has now been brought back to life, whilst being back on the road since the April 4 and its all in the early stages yet.

Things to come include finishing the stereo, blow off valve, turbo timer, a quieter exhaust system, intercooler, new turbo, head swap for a fresh rebuilt, and 1" bolt on spacers to get a decent stance from my 14x5.5 inch mags which happen to have +42mm offset.

Name: Dale Jeffree
Location: Southern Suburbs, Adelaide
Year/ Model: 1983 Pulsar Coupe (aka Exa Turbo)
Colour: originally Champagne Gold but now with black but soon to be Orange and Black
Period of ownership: Took ownership of the keys late November 2007

Engine Mods: AFM Relocation, T25 turbo, 2.5 inch turbo back exhaust, modified overboost valve.

Interior Mods: Cheap aftermarket wheel, Eclipse CD3424 MP3 player, VDO Dayton MPS 1700 splits, Jaycar Response 6.5 inch Kevlar woofers, Crap metal gear knob that burns hands in summer, Autometer 2-1/16 Sports Comp boost gauge.

Exterior Mods:Custom matt black paint job.

Wheels: Pintara factory alloys on Nexen S2000 185/55R14's

Future Plans: Inter cooler, KKR280 turbo, new paint job, new mags.

Upgrades include a T25, 2.5 inch custom dump to a 2.5 inch exhaust and Nissan Pintara 14x5.5 inch mags with Nexen S2000 185/55R14's.
Under the bonnet as some will notice the AFM and log relocation, the pod is installed in behind the front bar in the wheel well, but is shielded from the wheel with some core flute.
Future update will include new boost pipes with the relocation of the AFM to the hot side and as close to the TB as possible, in waiting for an inter cooler.

In the way of audio I have installed my Eclipse CD MP3 player, Jaycar Response 6.5 inch Kevlar splits in the doors with Earthquake titanium dome tweeters in the factory dash position, Jaycar Response 6 inch carbon fibre woofer in the rear for mid bass. All wiring is running into the boot awaiting the purchase of 2 Clarion Pro Audio Series 12 inch subs, so I can mount my amps to the back of the boxes.

Interior mods include a shitty aftermarket wheel, and an Autometer 2 inch boost gauge, which I need more picture of soon.

get the audio system working and finished. Then making a split dump and a new 2.5 inch exhaust with a decent muffler and resonator.

Tis actually matt black but hey I can't complain - I painted it with automotive paint from spray cans.
I think I will go Atomic Orange body and a gloss black roof.

Got subs, YAY!!!!!

Picked up a pair of Clarion Pro Audio Series 12 inch sub woofers, 300WRMS which will be fed via a Jaycar Precision Response 4x130WRMS amp.
New boxes will be constructed next fortnight, looking at two boxes with the internal volume of 55 litres, and a port that is 100x305mm

Took the car for a nice run through the southern country side on Thursday night, went through the hills, after a while LOUD pedal started to loose its effect. My mate and I jumped out to investigate
-- TURBO was yellow, as was the exhaust manifold and dump pipe --
Wowzers there was some heat in there, I had the car idling for 20 minutes or so, waiting for the turbo to cool down, the car ran like a bucket of shite the rest of the way home.

I went to Pirtek today and priced up some banjo fittings and bolt for the water cooling, $60 for two banjo bolts and fittings. Water cooling is to be fitted next week.

I will be sourcing an intercooler from work too, its already ceramic coated black for some stealth. dimensions of the core are 600x300x75mm

Dunno if water cooling will make that much difference mate. What sort of boost are you running with no cooler?

10 psi, but it can vary between 9 and 11 depending on whether its hot or cold.

Strange.
I used to give my old Exa a flogging sometimes, but it never made the turbo glow.
