ok so my new pistons arrived yesterday, as did my poly engine mounts, so all is looking good for a last week of march, first week of april finish. gotta pull my finger out and get all the engine bay up to scratch, wiring and paint etc.

i was thinking about polishing a few of the alloy parts too, intake manifold and compressor housing.......... what do yous think?

also i have seen altenators all shiney and shit, is the alloy too or do people get them chrome dipped?

pics to come

Polishing your compressor housing and intake manifold would not only look the bomb, but would also reduce the amount of heat radiated from the turbs (fuck-all compared to what comes off the turbine housing though) and absorbed by the intake manifold...

But prolly only by insignificantly theoretical amounts.

...Is it possible to get turbine housings coated in that groovy ceramic stuff?

And that ceramic stuff that stops heat getting in and out is a rough finish in a nice matt black. I got the Karl did a few years back. Looks very nice (except for the completely failed bearings!)

Yeah, I know that shit's not cheap... I think it was like $700 to get a manifold done, the last time I looked...

ok so a fair bit of work been getin done i think.............. engine bay is completely stripped out (bar fuel lines and steering column) getting ready for paint............... inside is a total mess atm, all good tho.

question............. the rubbery stuff with the inlay on the back up on the fire wall, what is its main purpose? is it to shield heat or is it just to quieten things down?????? i wanna turf it........... if its to stop the heat is it really necessary?
