E16T
Hi
Im Jose Velarde from Lima Peru
My car was a high revver e16, with double carbs, 304 cam, usw
Til my mind was contaminated with the evil teachings of wes dumalski, mike kojima et al
Result: My own turbo carbed e16t (stock engine 7.5:1 cr)
It started with a little toyota ct9 turbo (from the 1.3 glanza)
I managed to get 12 psi in my daily driver
Almost a month ago I upgraded to a toyota ct20 turbo
Things are different now, I can use a leaner mixture and it pulls harder
It run at 14 psi for almost a week, but for security reasons I lowered it to 12 til the IC is installed, hope next week
From the left side
From the right side
Peace

nice work.
at least you dont have to worry about running an AirFlowMeter!

no shit. i was just thinking about that. when i saw a blow through twin SU carbied Datto 1600 i was impressed. but when it came onto boost it would push fuel and air out the bearings that held the butterfly's on.. so it turned it into a mini flame thrower under the bonnet.. bloody lucky the owner never had a fire.. should have gone draw through setup..shanec86 wrote:nice work.

I think you're meant to get special carby's that are sealed for positive pressure or something aren't you?Ben Hewitson wrote:

or just seal the carby in a box and pressurise the whole thing!

Hi
The e16t project started with the little ct9 turbo boosting 7 psi and 9.3:1 cr
After a couple HG issues (detonation, my fault) I decided to lower compression to the stock e15et cr (7.5:1)
Sun was brighter, food tastier and no detonation
Then I increased the boost to 10 and then to 12 psi
Mixture had to be enrichened to control things and it pulled hard til 4k, Above 4k torque decreased...
Then I decided to go for a proper size turbo (less restrictive too)
It pulls harder above 3k, bov with the ct9 sounded less than a sec, with the ct20 sounds more than a sec
Carb is a progressive solex made in Argentina (dual 34 mm), and shares jets with solex and weber units
Yes it leaked through the shafts but after reading maximum boost and turbochargers I knew how to build an air seal
All carb vents are sealed and only air/pressure source is from above
Fuel injection? Yes
A little more time and money
Peace

Great news Velardejose.
Did it push harder after lowering compression?
How did you lower it?
For all of you that dont know me, i did something similar to Velardejose and we've been sharing info witth him for some time.
I have the e16s in a B13 Sentra and i put a Garret t25 in it with intercooler and MSD BTM.
Boost goes to 10psi and the little engine pushes hard. The only bad thing is the auto tranny that doesnt let me enjoy the power the e16sT is making.
Another thing that got me tired is using a carburator, im thinking about getting a Megasquirt, a manual tranny and lowering compression ratio from 9:1 to 8:1.
I think ill be doing this in about 5 or 6 months.
salutes...

I already was a member of this community before this forum existed.
You can see some pictures here: http://diegoenlinea.spaces.live.com/photos/
Now i have a complete Intake Manifold from a GA16DE, it doesn bolt right on our head, but with some work it will.
My mixture is pretty good now, but not perfect.
At full boost its very good, rich enough. But cruising around its hard to get it lean enough for a good economy.
Im tired of tuning the carb, Idle is always super rich, and other things that arent right, so im better going EFI with lower compression and a manual tranny.
How did you lower your compression???
