latest update

Post by dexi_styles »

Ok so i did some research over the last few weeks and got some money to get this ball rolling faster.

I bought a T28 Ceramic turbo. bolted it up and started the car. got the howling sound, and stumled onto a few goodies from Greengoblin.

a set of extractors, 2 dump pipes, rear bar, a dash, and bits and pieces... LIKE a T28BB

So I've been in and out of shops asking questions and stuff and the guys who are gonna kidnap my extractors to add a couple of nuts to the top of each pipe to give a better tune by (all he said was..) EGR to test the temp of each piston so they can fine tune the Microtech by keeping a steady temp in the exhaust. So that has puts a halt to my plans. So now I have to ripp out my cam and put in the Stage 2 cam, now that's tomorrow's job.

Now I hope to have my plans on track and have my car in the shop in two weeks. Fingers crossed that it all goes to plan!

Nice work!!!

I think you mean EGT in each runner though.
An EGT in each runner is some serious gear, usually reserved to engines on the brink!, not an E15 pushing 100-200kw!

in all honesty dude these cars are shit but they have so much character, are fun and go fairly well when running right. we still play around with these things because they are a fun addictive little shitbox! :D - Ash

Yeah thats the one. yeah I was hesitant about it at first but he did say it would help the tuning and make it easier for him to give out a better tune and not let it lean out when he gets more power

Yeah the turbo is only basic. I do have the ball bearing T28 off the S15 200sx that I'm putting on. I've still got a lot to do before i can permanently install the turbo.

I have to redo the oil return, its a little in the way. and i have to reroute the water line... hmmm Time to own a hacksaw.

Oh when I think I'm gonna get closer I find more things to be Altered. Oh well.

Next step ti reroute the waterlines, maybe even the radiator hoses to make room for the air filter and exhaust. Oh and get in the cam. time to get the engine hoist from my neighbour to get the engine out to check a few things before it goes off to get the exhaust.

Thanks man, it was a nice score but the mani means i need a large amount of mods to exhaust, oil n water lines to the turbz, drivers side water pipe to the radiator the mani comes out too much leaving only bout 2" or so between the pipe and manifold.

EDIT... Here you can see what I mean. and you can see the bolts in the extractors are for the EGT.

Image

Well for the update. after getting the parts of Pete, aka Greengoblin I fitted what i could and judged what needed to be done.

Now I pulled the engine out to fix a few oil leaks and put the stage 2 Cam. mounted up the intake and intercooler, I also cut out the ECU wires to clean up the wiring harness.

EDIT... Here's the rest of the Engine assembled

Image

I got the car ready to be taken to the tuners, who are "working out the exhaust and dump pipe" making it all sit up tight to the underneath.

Image

They are also bolting on the turbo, mounting actuator, servicing the brakes (need to make sure it stops & felt a little sloppy when I pulled it out of the garage after 8 MONTHS!!! mount and up the boost controller

Image

Then TUNE UP for the FUN TIMES!!! (Oh can't forget the REGO)

OK so I took my car into the shop and got a phone call to let me know the "hawling noise" ( http://forum.n12turbo.com/viewtopic.php ... ight=noise ) was still there and they weren't gonna do anymore ask they didn't know what was causing it.

So I got the car towed back home to replace the engine to start all over again. But what they did as far as mods was fit the turbo and make the dump pipe... AND MY am I impressed with it! I will have to get some photos to show you all, but its been raining the last few days so i haven't had the chance.

So now its back to the saving money to pay for the rest of the job, as I spent a bit on buying the donor car which I took the engine from.

Hey guys,
Here's a quick very late update.

I got on the path of getting my baby back on the road. Got a fork in the road from the squealing noise that made me spend the last of my funds i had for the tune on a spare car.

Here is the engine just as it was going in.

Image

I left the car in the garage for a few months and one day I thought I'd get back into it and...... BAM Stung by a Wasp!

Image

Then after getting rid of the massive nest, I got back into my shed and managed to start the Beast!

Image

Then a big puff of full WHITE SMOKE! The Turbo is SHOT!!!!!

So I now have to upgrade it, Swap New for Old for bout $1000.
I called the guy I got the turbo off to see if he knew the condition of it and he offered me this....

Image

Benny's old interior. So now i have to save save and SAVE to get this baby running again.
