Finally fixed the headlight... turns out it was the connector on the back of the bulb. Pretty sure overhauling the stalk made a difference too, cause I seem to recall not finding any volts at the connector before...

Started on some rust repairs in the sill and bottom of the guard too.

Just gotta make a shroud for the pod, and I'm ready to try my luck for a RWC.

makes your car look heaps like that blue one that was featured in hot fours all those years ago.
I'm guessing they are the same wheels ;) (as in, off that exact car)

or I could be wrong...

So, how do you like my slick pod shroud?

It's just too sexy.

So that's it - done. Fingers crossed I can get a RWC without doing any more work, as long as the exhaust isn't too loud...

Just have to get a fresh ring gear, bendix drive and clutch, swap the transmission and she's sorted : D

You're a sharp one, baz... get your sarcasm detector calibrated.

That ugly crap is kinda necessary for me to get a roadworthy. Unshrouded filters aren't. And anyway, it means my motor's sucking ambient temp air instead of underbonnet temp air. Just gotta make sure I don't try to drive through any water more than a foot deep...

Dude, wut? The AFM is always before (or strictly speaking, after) the filter. I'm hoping you know why the AFM is on the left... but then you should realise why the filter's on the left too. I guess I could've hung the filter off the end of the ducting, but that would've been a hassle and a bit weird.

Show me a car on here with the air filter on the right, and I'll show you someone who's failed to do the first mod worth doing to these cars.

the pictures not the best when first looking at it i was thinking you had that pipe off the intake of the turbo, cant really tell much from the photo... i didnt see the pipe was just for colder air i was under the impression the setup was the other way around hence what i ment about the afm and location
wouldnt it have just been neater to just run stock box/piping to get you though a rwc then just revert back to an exposed?

Neater, sure. Easier, no way. I'd have to put the log back on, and I no longer have all the necessary bits.
