Certainly a bit different. Good luck with it. Nice with the Jap spec plenum also!

I'd personally spend the $ on the ET, but if you like the Daewoo then you should go for it.

can you remember the et on ebay that had an sr20 gearbox and some of us tried to figure out if it was true, well going by his cardomain site, he baught that et! so maybe someone who lives nearby clint/mystic_20_2000 should pop by his place and have a look for themselves?

that wouldn't be legal putting an old engine in a newer car. Interesting though about the gearbox.

yeah i do, thought it turned out to be a typo?

raddavey: can you shed some more light on old engines into newer cars? i never heard of that... would make a bit of sense but

yeh its not legal in any state to do this as the engine does not meet the cars emission levels.

lol, the car does not emit, the engine does. stupid laws

legally...well in vic you arent allowed to put an older engine into a newer body

from what i understood the engines when build were subject to different emissions laws so in the end a newer car (even though its just the shell) would be puttin out more emissions that standard

yes but the car/chassis is 1997 which would have different emission targets than a 1984/5 engine. emissions wiould be a hell of a lot lower on the newer car. its a fair law. You will also find newer engine last longer especially the ones that are also sold in the US, I read somewhere that in california that to pass for registration manufacturers have to prove that the car is able to do a certain amount of milage (160,000miles? ) before needing any major engine work/ or have issues with burning of oil etc etc. so we all benefit from this.

Yes, as i stated in the WTB section before i moved the thread to here is ........ I am having problems with the Emission ADR's at the moment. i will try to find some sort of loophole or way to rectify this problem.

AND

The SR20 gearbox thing ...... i have no idea , i just restated what i was told when i bought the car. If you could prove that the guy was feeding me porkies then i will question him on it ... i still know where he lives  .... i'll add a photo of the gearbox to the cardomain link and maybe someone here can tell me the story .... As it sits in the car at the moment whatever box it is it has made the shift rod to short ( 1/2 inch to short maybe ) and i only have 1st 3rd and 5th as the shifter doesn't pull towards the rear of the car far enough to catch 2nd 4th and reverse.
I'll let ya's know when the pic is on cardomain.
