well i did 13.9 on shit tyres. So cant see why it wouldnt run a low 13 with traction

Gonna put some race fuel in it, strip it. just picked up my slicks before.

Can't wait to hear your results Shane, good luck mate!

Out of interest, how much did the slicks set you back? My plan was to run my car on slicks by the end of the year.

Also where did you get the m&h slicks from?
Good luck! I think you could crack a 12!

For some reason I always pictured slicks to cost between $1000-$2000 for the pair, I didn't realise they were only $240 each, nice.

What time are you hoping to run Shane? Anything slower than 13.65 should be fine hahaha nar, it would be awesome if you broke into the 12 second bracket.

Yea i didnt think they would that cheap.

I'd be happy with a low 13, because that will at least put me in the top10.
but if i could crack a 12, i would be over the moon!

Hey Shane I'm pretty sure you have use old datsun 13" rims to fit those tyres.

Any idea generally how many runs some slicks this size would last on our cars?? I still can't decide whether to go full slicks or drag radials.

These are the pros/cons I can think of

Price: Roughly the same price, the drag Toyo r888 drag radials are slightly cheaper.

Wear: The drag radials should last longer. I've heard of 10000ks use

Stress: I've heard the full slicks will absorb more shock and therefore less chances of breaking gearbox/driveshaft/clutch

Drive ability: Well the drag radials can be used on a street and also not as skatey down the track.

Performance: Obviously the slicks will have a great potential with more power etc and quicker times.

Records: Can get into HPI street times with drag radials.

Any advice will be great.

P.S SOrry for kinda hijacking the thread. If need be ill make a new thread.

Ryan i suppose it still really comes down to what you want the car for. Personally i wouldnt bother with drag radial street tyres, i would have slicks for the track and thats it. and just stick with regular tyres on the street which will just get wrecked anyway.

Heres a pic with the slicks on!
The design of the rim is actually a little different to the standard 13" so it JUST touches the caliper. So i think i will just knock off the bolt on spacers off the Skyline.. so the rims will be 13x7 +3 with 1" of dish :D

Yeah i think i'll go with the full slicks. I have read they can last up to 100 passes which is plenty. Just have to store them right when they aren't being used.

Nice pic Shane! Are they the custom rims?
